About Me



Singer-songwriter and producer, John Farias has been entertaining audiences from Northern California down to the tip of Baja California, Mexico. John has captivated his supporters with a unique blend of old-school rock and blues. Currently, John has been working on his as yet untitled new album in the recording studio. The new record combines universal themes and love songs with John’s thought provoking and upbeat, sarcastic humor. This is the latest effort by John Farias toward realizing his musical vision.
John began his musical career when he was just five years old. He started playing the piano and was quickly performing in front of audiences. As a teenager, John graduated to guitar and began writing, recording, and producing his own work. John studied many different styles on guitar but seemed to have a passion for rock-n-roll. Born of Portuguese descent and influenced by legendary performers such as Kiss, U2, Jimi Hendrix, and Santana, John wanted to take his various influences and turn them into one unique sound.
During these years, John began and continues to host an annual charity concert “Acoustic Jam.” The shows have raised thousands of dollars for Cystic Fibrosis and Breast Cancer research. Moreover, the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission has funded John’s music on more than one occasion for his charitable and community involvement. John’s “One Night in Paradise” CD was recorded to benefit Cystic Fibrosis and was funded by the SMAC. Recently, John has completed work on a Sacramento singer-songwriter compilation CD “Sacramento Jam”. John’s production company, Upside Down Productions, was also funded by the SMAC with regard to this project. Through his charitable efforts, John has been able to really connect with his audience.
The latest CD, Smooth Times, is a blend of pop and rock -n- roll, with a twist of melodic guitar work on top. The CD features Johns passionate vocals and soulful guitar playing. Furthermore, the records good time feel is refreshing and energizing. Its rock-n-roll; yet it is sexy and smooth. The CD also features Bernardo Pena (vocalist and percussionist) and Rena Durham (vocalist). John's record was all about having fun.
Looking forward, John's record is scheduled to be finished within the next few months with tour dates in 2008.
