Y Gwir, Yr Holl Wir, A Dim Byd Ond Y Gwir – Sibrydion
Dechreuodd Osian a Meilir Gwynedd eu gyrfa mewn cerddoriaeth efo casgliad caset chwe chan, Llygaid Gwydr. Recordiwyd hwn yn Stiwdio Ofn Gorwel Owen gyda’r grwp Beganifs. Tra yn eu harddegau aethpwynt ymlaen i ryddhau dwy albym, Cwcwll ag Aur. Yn ystod y cyfnod hwn cafwyd sawl profiad gwerthfawr gan deithio o amgylch Cymru a’r Iseldiroedd gyda Geraint Jarman, yr Anhrefn a Ffa Coffi Pawb.
Ar ol gadael ysgol ail-ffurfiodd y grwp fel Big Leaves. Gan gynnwys y ddwy albym Pwy Sy’n Galw? (2000), Alien And Familiar (2002), a senglau/E.P’s Cymraeg a Saesneg, un o uchafbwyntiau’r brodyr oedd cefnogi Catatonia o amgylch Prydain a chwarae yn Brixton Academy. Bu’r grwp yn ffodus hefyd o chwarae yn Ewrop ac America. Tair mlynedd wedi troead y mileniwm daeth Big Leaves i ben ac ar ol blwyddun yn arbrofi gyda ffurfiau newydd o recordio penderfynodd y ddau ffurfio’r Sibrydion.
Eisteddfod Casnewydd 2004 oedd cyngerdd cyntaf Sibrydion yng nghlwb chwedlonnol TJ’s. Ffloss (Dan Laurance), Mei a hen beiriant drymiau berfformiodd yn y gig hwn. Daeth y brodyr i adnabod Ffloss tra’n byw ym Maenceinion ar ol ei weld yn chwarae’i gitar mewn bandiau gwahanol gan gynnwys cerddoriaeth Brasiliaedd, cajun, a gwerinol.
Rhys Anweledig (cefnder Osh a Mei) oedd y pedwerydd aelod i ymuno i chwarae bas, a dyna oedd cnewyllyn y band dros y ddwy flynedd nesaf.
Trwy aeaf 2004, aeth y band ati i recordio caneuon yn eu sdiwdio (Sdiwdio Nen) ac yn haf 2005 fe ryddhawyd eu albym JigCal. Enilliodd JigCal albym orau 2006 yng ngwobrau RAP BBC Radio Cymru, a dewisodd Bandit eu can Dafad Ddu fel trac teitlau y rhaglen. Maent eisioes wedi bod yn gwneud teithiau o amgylch Cymru ag yr Iwerddon a Sibrydion oedd prif fand Eisteddfod Abertawe 2006.
Erbyn Ebrill 2007 ac ar drothwy rhyddhau eu hail albym, teimlai Sibrydion bod eu deunydd newydd yn ddatblygiad o JigCal. Oherwydd hyn mae Dafydd Nant (o’r grwp pync roc BOB) wedi ymuno, gyda osian yn cael cyfle i ganolbwyntio ar yr allweddellau.
Gorffenaf 30, 2007 ydy dyddiad rhyddhau eu hail albym Simsalabim. Disgrifir yr albym yn “Hypnotic†a dyna’r rheswm dros y gair hud Simsalabim. Recordiwyd yr albym yn Sdiwdio Nen a chymysgwyd hi gan Cian Ciaran (Super Furry Animals / Acid Casuals) a’r grwp yn sdiwdio Pleasure Foxxx yng Nghaerdydd.
Dwi ‘di clywed sibrydion…..

In their early teens in Waunfawr, Beganifs were formed. A few years later they changed their name to Big Leaves, and the band enjoyed phenomenal success, as they quickly became the biggest Welsh band in the country. After many years at the pinnacle of the Welsh Music Scene the band went their separate ways after accomplishing almost everything. Now, with over a decade of experience, the brothers Meilir and Osian Gwynedd return with their latest project Sibrydion.
The bands first gig was in the National Eisteddfod in Newport, 2004, when Mei played on his own with a drum machine for company. Over the past twelve months the band has recruited Osian Gwynedd to replace the drum machine, while Dan Lawrence now appears on guitar with Rhys Roberts (Anweledig) on the bass. Sibrydion recorded a session for Radio Cymru C2, and their popularity rocketed. They won the award for Best C2 Session in Radio Cymrus annual awards ceremony 2005, and the song Dafad Ddu was chosen as the theme tune for Bandit, S4Cs music programme.
JigCal is the debut album from this new, but experienced band. The sound is new and fresh, but the ability to write catchy, memorable tunes has not deserted them over the years. Recorded in Stiwdio Nen in Cardiff, JigCal offers an exceptional variety of tunes in the Sibrydions unique style.
The album kicks-off with the bass-heavy Dafad Ddu, and the energetic pop/rock songs such as VVV, Arthur and Hel Clex offer a welcome contrast to the slower melodic ballads Chiwawas, Mynd Drwyr To and (Disgyn) Am Danat Ti. Having already toured Wales with Kentucky AFC and The Caves, Sibrydion are quickly making a name for themselves on the stages of the nation.
Named after a "careers computer" that declared Osian should be a bus driver and that Mei should be a monkey-attendant in a zoo, JigCal is an excellent sprinboard for the band's career.............................................
