'Subliminal’ - 'below the state of conscious perception. Inadequate to produce conscious awareness but able to evoke a response.’
The meaning of the word ‘Subliminal’ is very relevant to what we are doing, there is no real ambition to become ‘big’ as a brand, but we care about prevoking a response from what we do and how its done.
We are a brand whose ethos, aspirations and daily operations embrace community, respect and artistic nourishment amongst the youth. We do not want to exhibit the kind of elaborate, artificial brand imaging or advertising currently rife within UK youth culture separating people apart under a false veil of individualism. Nor do we want to condone the ‘trendy’ guerrilla tactics of companies that have no real interest in the inner cities’ expressions or artistic practices. We wish to take a path less travelled and graft a trade that practices and benefits from unity through fashion, music and culture. We walk to get to where aspiration, enlightenment and enjoyment are embraced by all, and the beautiful foundations and labours of our art are celebrated within ourselves. We design clothes to combat the grey industrial autonomy the corporations have on our culture. We seek to nurture our brand in this countries’ fertile soils and showcase some original talent, thought, innovation and most importantly community amongst the disillusioned youth of today.
Subliminal Clothing’s passion is found within people, clothing is simply a medium to connect with them.
