Medium + Surface + Outcrowd = Eyejoy.

About Me

"The Outcrowd" is a shambolic visual collection of hoodlums and battered psyches, born out of a basic obsession to create. Not to be trusted with pen, paint or any other medium that will leave an indelible mark for that matter. Initially realised in 2003 and formed in early 2004 by Artists/Co-Curators Simon Peplow & Lawrence Roper. Enlisting began, compiling a tight group of friends, Skateboarders, Illustrators, Image-makers, knitters and Lurkers. Since then The Outcrowd Collective has taken on an organic, almost parasitic growth form, spanning continents and breaking cultural boundaries as more creators enlist and mutate to survive. "This is chance for some of us to air our secret Visual diaries, a mass of weird visions and telephone squiggles, that until now have been left ominously gathering dust in darkened corners. For others it's about escaping the mundanities of modern life and creating work that they enjoy, outside of any particular agenda. Personal freedom to express themselves, therapy with a paint brush, a subconscious flow of thoughts and dreams from the soul that have to be documented. Some have achieved success, but this is not their driving force, others have been formally trained and educated, but choose only to digest and process what was relevant and necessary, favouring instead to venture forth on a path of self discovery".So leave your wheat fields, your crumbling castles, your muddy holes in the ground, come in from the cold and immerse yourself within the delicate & befuddled psyches of The Outcrowd Collective.
