Aka Imaginary Boy, Danilo Vigorito is one of the most accredited DJ/producers on the international techno circuit. Born in Naples on 4 th dec. 1974, he starts to play music when eleven, studying classic guitar. Initiated early into the restless music scene of the end of the 80s,
in 1991 Danilo starts his DJ career and, only seventeen years old, is already a cult-DJ: he founds the Three Imaginary Boys', the very first underground team of the partenopean club life. It has been a basic contribution to the rising of the Naples techno scene, that was going to draw everybody's attention to itself. Immediately, Danilo shows an outstanding artistic tension, derived in part from the scalding yet unsettled romantic atmosphere of the Naples underground. He is today the spokesperson of the Naples techno scene and has earned the title of Naples techno guru. A significant seven years experience as a sound engineer provides him a solid technical background that will enrich his future musical production with unmistakable characteristics.
In 1999 Danilo gives birth to his music and when he releases Sync Mode EP for Informal Records, he completes the first step on a rapid road towards respected status in the world of techno music. Releasing on well-known labels such as Zenit ( which releases spread the 'Imaginary Boy' nickname), speaker attack, primate, conform and genetic he reaches international awareness and his tracks appear in the charts of the biggest DJs like Richie Hawtin and Sven Vath (soon Danilo will remix Shock Ralley for S. Vath, released on Virgin Records in 2003).
In 2002 his first label orion appears, giving the right echo and identity to an utterly personal musical style. Not only does orion represent popular artists such as the Advent and Gaetano Parisio, but Danilo's personal releases earn him the reputation of a new phenomenon on the electronic scene, identifying him with elaborated and refined production techniques more typical of a live set. It is his know-how as a sound engineer and an intense passion for music that leads Danilo to the exploration of the inner world of electronic sound, largely neglected by most producers. The astonishing discography, with its typical Neapolitan funky style, draws a very intense Dj work with innumerable showcases.
From 2000, Danilo travels around the world performing and spreading his cool, brilliant sound and becoming a milestone of the international techno scene.
In the 2002 and 2003 years only, Danilo releases twenty nine EPs besides about ten remixes, excluding his many appearances on the most important international compilations. DRILL , BOLT and AUGER on U60311 Compilation: Techno Division Vol. 2' (2002) mixed by Dj Rush; SOUL on Fabric 09' (2003) mixed by Slam; FLEX on I Love Techno 2003' mixed by Stenny Fransen; ORION 001 on Live at Sonar' (2004) by François Kevorkian and KEVIN EP (A1) on Carl Cox - Sound Of Ibiza 2004' are just a few important evidences of a career at the height of his fame, definitely celebrated with the appearance of the KNAP track on Exhibitionist' CD/dvd (2004) by Jeff Mills.
In 2005 Danilo transfers all his experience in a new project, which name Intelligence - captures the whole imaginary world created by Danilo's unmistakable style, the success of his first projects and the echoes on the public of an artist that with his productions has conquered the most passionate disciples of club culture. Symptom of a professional growth, Intelligence is intended to give space to new and deeper experimentations which demonstrate the ability to invigorate techno sound. Intelligence welcomes the primitive electronic sounds that inspired the early electronic age and empowers them within a classic dance rhythm matrix. Minimal arrangements enhance the simplicity of the musical structure generating vibrating and incisive melodies, resulting in a remarkably contemporary sound, perfectly in keeping with his typical and appreciated live-sounding production. The effect is captivating, fresh and exciting, that since the first release on may 2005 has inflamed dance floors around the world. Danilo fills this productions with an exploratory ambition worthy of the most deserving projects and expresses a transverse artistic creativity played on emotional intelligence and able to give unexpected resonance to more simple sounds; so intelligence aims to ward off the taken for granted character and the blind alleys of the proposed music style and confirms the Artist capacity to find new suggestions for techno music.
