Matete

Matete is a drummer / songwriter from Winterthur, Switzerland. Currently he is touring with „MY NAME IS GEORGE" (Voted as „Best New Swiss Band 2006“ by the makers of Radio DRS3, Switzerlands biggest radio station) and writing songs for their new album . Together with Cindy Hennes from Hamburg, Germany, he makes up the two-piece band „BELLEVUE“ ,currently mixing their debut-album and preparing their release in Germany. Matete was educated in Zurich (Jazz School, HMT), Hamburg (Hochschule fuer Musik und Theater) and New York City (Drummer’s Collective). He also holds a SAWI-degree in Cultural Management and takes care of releases and tours for other bands and readings through his Booking- & Management - Agency „LEIDENSCHAFTSVERWALTUNG“. As a songwriter, he wrote songs for several album-productions, Singles, Musicals, Events and TV-Shows such as LASSO’s „Bisch Parat?“, which sold over 100'000 times (all compilations included). „Bisch Parat?“ was number one in the charts of the german speaking part of Switzerland and still holds third position of the most sold Swiss singles of all times. In 2004, he entered the Swiss Drummers and Percussionists Competition and came first in the Advanced category. Besides his own projects, Matete plays live and studiowork as a freelance-drummer for artists such as "Snotty Cheekbones", "Plankton", Musical Productions “Grease”, “Fame”, “Cinderella”, “Blutsbrueder”, “Jekyll & Hide Rock Opera”, “Mondgold” and “Klecks”, William White (Album „Undone“), Admiral James T. & The Bell Garden Four, The Redlights, Bitches In Heat, Vic Torea & The Nakeds, The Beatniks, Lasso, Laufband, Phil Mc Cammon, Kasperlitheater fuer Erwachsene, Spat, The Dukes, Vaillant, Kptn Korg, Fuzzy Index, Mack & The Sunliners, Fighting Maxine, Hardstudios, Dalastudios, Migou Soundpool and many more.
