With their virtuoso guitar playing, their fresh, unconventional concerts and their powerful stage presence the Swedish guitar duo TheGothenburgCombo has attracted much attention the past few years. Aside from in Sweden, the group has toured the USA, China, Germany, France, Spain, Estonia, Albania, Norway and Denmark. Audiences and critics alike have praised this duo for their tremendous live-performances which combine extreme virtuosity with deep feeling, humour and maximum communication with the audience. Their repertoire consists of new interpretations of classical music, but also newly written music—either by the group themselves or in close collaboration with composers.They have played in concert-halls, jazz-clubs, schools, churches, galleries and theatres with equal success!In July 2004 TheGothenburgCombo won the first prize and the audience ’s prize in "13ème Concours International de Guitare en Duo"! The competition takes place in Montelimar in France and is the biggest duo competition for guitarists in the world.Projects during the season 2006-07 include a tour in California (USA), a visit to China with concerts in Shanghai (including appearances on Chinese National Television) and concerts at major festivals such as "Gitarrenfestival Ruhr" (Essen, Germany), "Uppsala International Guitar Festival" (Uppsala, Sweden) and "Nordic Light Festival" (in Tromsö in the north of Norway). TheGothenburgCombo also cooperates with "The Swedish National Concert Agency" during the fall, 2006, with a small tour in Bosnia-Herzegovina.Further, a new record with TheGothenburgCombo, containing contemporary music in "minimalistic" and "ambient" style will be recorded during the fall 2006 by the Dutch label "Northwest Recordings". The record will be released in February, 2007!Plans for 2007 also include tours in South America and the Netherlands.
