I am here for Friends

About Me

I drive a 68 Ford Galaxie and I'm into guns, playing guitar & writing music, and listening to a wide range of music at high volume. Because my tastes, hobbies, and sometimes my appearance is invariably peculiar in some way or another, I'm often called "eccentric". Although I like that word because it's concisely descriptive rather than assumptive or judgemental, eccentricity is often inaccurately associated with a bit of lunacy by many people. I think that most people have difficulty believing that deviating from the "norm" and refusing to be infuenced by societal standards is a result of unique creativity, intellect, and individuality; the discomfort I find in being bound by conformity is matched only by the extreme discomfort that so many people find in the lack thereof, and they assume that only a scatter-brain, nutty person would not care about the scrutiny and judgement that comes from being different. I like to do things to please myself, not others, and I can't imagine having a fun life doing otherwise. My home is filled with bizarre knick-knacks, I collect dead bugs, and I love skulls, and I'm a goofball. I like to listen and learn as much as I like to opine, and I appreciate those who truly enjoy thinking and challenge me to do likewise. There is so much beauty in this world, and the gratitude I have for the inspiration, intrigue and internal peace I find in things like art, nature, and human beings is matched only by my gratitude for being able to find it even in the least likely of places. I consider myself a lucky person for many reasons, but mostly because I have wonderful friends, family and pets. Without them, the aforementioned self-summary is really just a meaningless narration of my traits and beliefs; their love, appreciation and understanding is what truly makes life amazing, as well as worth sharing- especially with them, of course!!!

My Interests

It doesn't so much matter where I am or what I'm doing as long as I'm in good company. I enjoy doing fun things, laughing at funny stuff, and learning about everything and everybody in the process. (used to be able to do all that and more at Grateful Dead shows...miss 'em!).Ironically, though, it is the dark and the macabre that I like to surround myself with, and I am most comfortable when "happy" and "nice" things (music, art, etc.) are nowhere near me! Even just seeing something like an Anne Geddes picture (((shudder))) makes me want to kill someone, but cover my walls with disturbing, dark or peculiar imagery like that of Hieronymous Bosch or H.R.Giger, and I'll be very comfortable! :-)

I'd like to meet:

Other than Cthulhu (who I fantasize about meeting even though it probably wouldn't be very fun and would end bad), I'd say: people who are interesting and genuine...ask me something, about anything. Tell me something I might not know. Show me something intriguing. Make me laugh. Have compassion. Be proud of who you are, and not what you own. Think.

Music:

The louder the better! Celtic Frost, Led Zep, Clutch, The Sword, Melvins, Morbid Angel, Run DMC, Slayer, Goatsnake, Devo, Spirit Caravan, Gary Numan, Helios Creed, Ramesses, Captain Beefheart, T Rex, The Buzzcocks, Combustible Edison, Part-Time Christians, The Crystal Method, Orange Goblin, Foetus, Punishment of Luxury, Atomic Bitchwax, The Meatmen, Place of Skulls, Hellhammer, Kid Rock, Totimoshi, The Who, Juliana Hatfield, Budgie, The Police, X, Blue Oyster Cult, Acid Bath, Hank III, Lair of the Minotaur, Crowbar, Wolfmother, Kyuss, Stooges, X, Sunny Day Real Estate, Spirit, Awol one, Pod People, Faces, Electric Wizard, Helmet, Ministry, King Missile, Dr. Know, Body Count, PJ Harvey, The Stranglers, Bad Brains, QOTSA, Brant Bjork, Dead Kennedys, Fu Manchu, Adam and the Ants, The Damned, The Black Keys, Glen Miller, Hendrix, Johnny Horton, Pantera, Bauhaus, Beta Band, The Wipers, Duran Duran, Beck, Psychedelic Furs, R.L.Burnside, Joy Division, Soundgarden, Black Flag, Charlie Daniels, Venom, Schooly D, Neil Young, Samhain/Old Misfits, The Firm, Heart, KMFDM, Witchfinder General, Grateful Dead, Massive Attack, MDC, Traffic, Zodiac Mindwarp, Apollyon Sun, Ween, Pentagram, Masters of Reality, Killing Joke, Urban Dance Squad, Love and Rockets, Robert Johnson, Klark Kent, P.W.E.I., Circle Jerks, NIN, B52's, Royal Trux, Christian Death, Fang, Code of Honor, High on Fire, The Cars, Eyehategod, Missing Persons, Bile, Superjoint Ritual, BLS, God Lives Underwater, Soul Coughing, The Police, Saint Vitus, Ultra Vivid Scene, Suicidal Tendencies, Cream, Jerry Reed, Sleep, Primal Scream, Rush, Butthole Surfers, Pixies, The Cramps, Dag Nasty, Fear, Eagles of Death Metal, Elliot Smith, Monkees, Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, Dandy Warhols, and on and on and on.....I would also like to mention that I am the manager/promotor for the band BLACK RABBIT (click to see profile). They are a true rock and roll band whose sound might be described as a mix between The Guess Who and Screaming Trees...Please contact me if you would like to book them! I also have my own music page; I'm not in a band or anything, it's just me. I write the music, lyrics, and I play the guitar and sing the vocals. Then I record it all with a shitty boom box...check it out if you're so inclined. Vodka Broad (Click to see profile)

Movies:

I most favor movies that are either creepy and weird, or funny in an absurd or offbeat way, but I'm also a big sucker for touching and romantic ones that are done with depth. Ghost World, Rushmore, Head!, Napolean Dynamite, Desperate Teenage Lovedolls, Decline of Western civilization, Lord of The Rings trilogy, Watership Down, Freaks, Snatch!, The Ring, Sixteen Candles, Wuthering Heights (the original), Day of the Triffids, Wild at heart, Pay it Forward, The Filth and the Fury, all John Waters, Secondhand Lions, Back to the Future, The Notebook. I also love anything by Alfred Hitchcock, and anything that stars Vincent Price.

Television:

WONDER SHOWZEN!!! No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, Twilight Zone (the original series), South Park, Pimp my Ride, Pinks, Vintage Sesame Street & Electric Company, Mythbusters, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, Andy Griffith Show, Donna Reed, Addams Family, VH1 Classics, and anything on Animal Planet, Discovery Channel Channel, or History Channel.

Books:

My old, unabridged dictionary is the best book of all time.

Heroes:

My Mum, who always made me feel special and taught me to treat others likewise.
