FEMALE VOCALIST/ SYNTH AND BASS PLAYER WANTED!!

About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorFormed in early 2005 in the grim grey seaside town of Southend On Sea the Duo known as The Vanity Clause began crafting their own distinctive electronic sound.
We had both been playing in various local rock bands over the years but started to find the over saturated local rock scene limited and no longer inspiring. With very few experimental live bands with most bands tending to follow the latest commercial fashion without finding a new sound of their own, we have always intended to steer away from trends and fashion and our song writing reflects the frustrations of our modern world’s celebrity culture and how pretty faces sell records.
Whilst sharing a flat together we decided to turn to our original love of early 80's electronica and to start writing loads of material using numerous old analogue synthesizer's, in this we discovered our solution to our own frustrations. We feel the brief period between the late 70’s and early 80’s was not long enough to tap the full potential of such inspiring equiptment. Fully aware that live electronic music was virtually unheard of with only a couple of local band not resorting to laptop music we realised we should attempt to open people’s eyes and by mid 2007 we played our first show. Keeping the live set up traditional we juggle all of the synths between the two of us and keep all the music as live as possible. Since we formed we have gone from having no keyboard playing abilities at all to playing live at numerous shows including the legendary ‘Back to Nature’ in Notting Hill where we played to our largest crowd so far.
We draw from endless luminescent sources as Depeche Mode, Soft Cell, Roxy Music, Fad Gadget, Ultravox, Kraftwerk and Joy Division, and others such as NIN, Orbital and Bowie. We have created a sound crossing classic 80's pop tunes with a dancey, twisted experimental edge by contrasting stong melodies and hooks with frenzied Moog action!
Russell Harris - The Vanity Clause's principal electronic wizard - crafts bewitching beats and deep, mulit-layered melodies, whilst lyricist David Woods overlays dark, sweet stories of faded glamour and longing. We combine to create a striking and distinctive sound reminiscent of 70's and 80's electro, yet at the same time thoroughly modern and fresh!
