About Me

Mark comes from a long lineage of performers. Both grandfathers were multi-instrumentalists who played for local dance bands. Marks parents are professional Western music writers and performers, and his sister is a professional singer in Vancouver.BC native (born in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and raised in White Rock), Mark started his musical journey at age 4 when he began to play the drums and piano. By age 7 he had begun to seriously study music through drum lessons. At age 9 he began studying classical piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music and continued this for nine years. By age 13 he had played his first professional gig.Mark studied and received his diploma in Jazz and Commercial music performance and arrangement from Vancouver Community College and majored in Music Composition at Simon Fraser University. To date, he is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and vocalist; guitar, keyboards, drums, and bass are all in his repertoire.With these accomplishments already under his belt, Mark has exhibited his diversity in music through producing, engineering and performance. He has produced and engineered for a number of artists (Sabrina Korva, Prairie Pride, and Continental Clyde); scored for films (The Hound of London ,Virtuality, Sharp As Marbles) and contributed sound design and scoring for the St. Roch installation at the BC Maritime Museum. Mark was a founding member of the well-known Vancouver based 80s tribute band, Tainted Lovers as well as the jazz quartet Continental Clyde.Over the past several years Mark has played and toured with Tal Bachman, 54-40, Saffron Henderson, The Neurotics, Brian Irwin, Myk Gordon, Bjorn Again, Bobby Bruce and R&B diva Jully Black.
