TROPICAL POWER ROCK

About Me

Who's also known as Daniel Oliveira Brostel, had his first contact with an instrument when he was eight years old, studying piano for over three years. The guitar came up into his life at fifteen years of age...His first Demo cd, recorded in San Diego, California - 2003, shows in a very transparent way his characteristics. The rustic nine track piece of art goes from spectacular samba drums sounds to the heavy blues rock, crossingover to a couple of beautiful acousitc hits and funky grooves, getting different kinds of rock and ending with a dirty and well done heavy song (The Road Song). The second album, HOME MADE, recorded in Sao Paulo - 2004, Daniba kept practically all his strength on the most pure rock'n'roll. The composer brought up a heavier side of his music and much deeper concepts into his lyrics, with subjects like the negative power of capitalism in undeveloped countries, the holy wars, terrorism, greed and etc.You can also check two new songs, " tudo o que ela pode ser" and "spell on me" from his third cd, wich will be released soon.Like most of independent artists in the world, Daniba has faced a lot of difficulties to record his own work. The easiest way to do it was purchasing an audio workstation, allowing him to record at home and create his own label: the Papagaio Records. It's also important to point that, with the exception of the drums and some loops, all the instruments and voices presented in all songs were played and recorded by the composer, as well as the production, mixing, mastering and art direction.

Sounds Like: a mix of different faces of Rock, starting from the Blues with slide guitars and lots of distortion, passing through the good old Soul Funk from the 70's and catching some characteristics from the early 90's Grunge. There is a huge presence of the acoustic guitar sound as well, where you can hear a smooth touch within a variety of open guitar tunings, finding sometimes a brazilian root sound that mixes with blues and classic rock. All this blending of sounds and styles brings the atention of a good tasted listener.
