About Me

new song:
'lamb white days' - over the years i have developed a habit of singing a capella versions of carole king's 'way over yonder' for microphone soundchecks. (and funny enough it always helped to get the sound technician's attention). and i must have gotten stuck on this 'bluesy' feeling when recording 'lamb white days'. but i admit that i like the final result...

about gandairsonora
GrandAirSonora aka Christoph Böhner is just a thirtysomething tired of compromising and spending endless hours in dark basements to come up with full band adaptations of bedside compositions. what is left are the combined efforts of single guitar and voice.
i am planning to record a couple of songs in my younger brother's studio as soon as i got them all set. he is the guy with the neumann mics and the production skills that bring in the occasional ebow here and the additional percussion there. for now i just post some of my bedroom versions of the songs i am working on. devastate them so i can motivate myself to try a little harder...

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: GrandAirSonora aka Christoph Böhner
Influences: Leonard Cohen, Weakerthans, Bob Dylan, Chamberlain, Elvis Costello, Jeff Buckley, Simon & Garfunkel, Sunny Day Real Estate, Peter Gabriel, Portishead, Beatles, Lamb...i could go on like this forever and even name a few classic composers - to sum it up: i like music
Sounds Like: a 54 year old with too many bad habits including late night drinking, too many cigarettes and a tendency to fumble for the microphone when sober enough to remember the right chords...just to name a few.but to be honest: it is all just storytelling with a acceptable dose of truth mixed in. and maybe someday i will be able to offer an explanation for the fact that my songs always seem to come out a little bleak and with a dark edge though i am not a sad person. it is a mystery to me but i can't help it.
