GIGI SAVONI
DJ/PRODUCER
Gigi Savoni stands out today as one of the great representatives of club music in southern Italy and promoter of music experimentation through the blending of different genres such as electronica, tech house, speed garage and hard house. A real music prodigy, he has 16 years of experience as DJ/producer and is spinning today's most infectious music in southern Italy and,as guest resident dj,in some of the most popular clubs in New York.
At the age of 6 he starts replacing toys with records, developing a preference for rock and 80's electro pop, two styles that can be detected still today in his DJ sets.Gigi makes the big leap from listening to playing music at the age of 15 spinning at various private parties. In the same period he starts working for a local radio station: Gigi's techniques and musical selection are noticed right away even by the broadcasting gurus of the area. Thus he starts playing for 15,000 people who tune in every day to listen to his first mix show.At the age of 17, Gigi undertakes his first experience in clubland becoming resident at Sausari (Lecce) one of the best clubs of southern Italy during the early 90's. In a few weeks Gigi's popularity increases dramatically - everyone in the area knows him and his DJ sets.In 1995 Gigi's budding career expands in another important direction, producing and arranging his first single for Godiva "What Girls Have Been Made For?" (Marcon Music/ V.O.T.U.). In 1996 he produces the project named Lightcream "Discodevil" (Zac Music/Sugar) which includes remixes by club music legend Visnadi (Livin' Joy, X-static). The success in clubland of these tracks makes Gigi one of the most requested DJs in Puglia. He starts spinning for three different important clubs. His DJ sets are requested by an increasing number of radio stations fascinated by Gigi's signature sound. The following years until 1999 are full of gigs and record productions. While he spins for some of the best clubs in south of Italy he produces "Sex Doesn't Vex" by Bees In Trees (V.O.T.U./Homeboy) with remixes by New Yorker Peter Presta, and Deity Zone's "Gimme All Your Love" with remixes by Stonebridge (Robin S, Ultra Naté, Melanie C) and Love Solution. The year 2000 is extremely important for Gigi. He starts working for Rete Selene, the biggest radio network in southern Italy. Here he directs and produces various shows including his very own mix show which is one of the highlights of the radio's programming. Still today every Saturday night Gigi's infectious sounds set the night ablaze for almost 100,000 people that tune in to listen to his music. Such an exposure has rocketed Gigi's popularity and has given him the chance to excel at editing and multitracking professional software. Today Gigi tours as a freelance and spins for the best clubs of southern Italy and in some of the most popular clubs in New York such as Sullivan Room,Bauhaus ,Sundays at APT and one night parties with the best promoting teams in the Big Apple
