Matter is everywhere.
Each atom is made up of a nucleus and electrons.
If you were to squeeze all of the empty space out of atoms the entire human race could fit in a sugar cube. (Marcus Chown)When the spaces between things are compressed, we see it is the little things that matter.
The simple things that have the bulk mean. Yet it is the empty space that gets so much attention.
We decorate it with glitter-glue and poofy-pink-puff-balls, diamonds and gold, tissue-paper-flowers and CEOs.
We nominate it Empty Space of the Year, of the Decade and Century.
As empty as it is, we rarely see through it, something to do with the consistency of the glitter- refracting light and damaging our eyes.We ask , "What's the matter?" but often it is our ego asking to be told that it is not our fault.
That it has nothing to do with us.
But we are matter too,
we can't escape.
For matter is everywhere.
And as much as we focus on empty space there is always a rhythm,
an under lying message that we feel but can't quite catch the exact tune,
something rocking us in a whirling hummm of twirling amebas, astro-plans and electrical poles.
True matter lurks,
outlawed and pulsing.
Bouncing off the corners of our souls.
