One summer night in 2005, Stockholm-based bass player Lars Ekman and Gothenburg guitarist David Ståhl started talking about forming a band consisting of the best young musicians from the east and west coast of Sweden. This was the beginning of Wail.
The band´s common musical goal is to play new and fresh modern jazz, with great knowledge of and respect for the genre´s tradition. New harmonies are mixed with beautiful melodies and some classic groove, under the influence of such diverse musicians as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Bud Powell, Herbie Hancock and even Duke Ellington.
