About Me

clinging to the top of a tree in high winds, laughing. "you enter the marketplace, barefoot, unadorned, covered with mud and dust, smiling...using no supernatural power, you bring the withered trees to bloom..."CURRENT MOON moon info

My Interests

understand the city-earth: the pipes, wires, walls, seeds flying, skin of concrete, music, cracks in the sidewalk, light, air, noise, tone. tuning in freely. increasing expansion-inclusion. refining consciousness, presence, commitment to integrity. fermenting millet in my future closet and consuming it with you at midnight. etymology. entymology. explosive flexible love, global culture ferment-explosion, the open theater of the street, climbing, flying, floating, dancing, making music, making love, listening. genius of every kind. also genies. plants as ancestors. up close + personal anatomy lessons, silence and solitude, traveling light, riding bikes & also rollerskates and also walking especially when it is very windy. broadcasting seeds, staying up all night, waking very early alone, making movies, art-attack, making friends with cops and soldiers whenever possible, history-as-rollercoaster, Jim Henson & his Muppets, mad laughter, all Buddhas, Dharmas and Sanghas, surprise kissing, schools and teachers that don't alienate or subjugate anybody and instead aim for maximum freedom and awareness. jurassic technology and other curiosities, folks bravely steering the human race away from disaster & into radical wakefulness, sustainable technology, harnessing the nervous system like a dragon to ride, making strange bursts of art. celebrating original, honest & naked. finishing what i start.

I'd like to meet:

the Master who makes the grass green. people who are humble & living in profound love, and who encourage these qualities in me. people who rise bearing the wand of intuition, the cup of sympathy, the sword of reason AND the pentacle of valor, all. people interested in their self-metaprogramming capabilities & the marvelous flexibility of experience. women with beards. big beards. on their faces. folks who dwell pleasurably wherever on the male/female continuum. renegade ninja types. people who dance like they've got a shooting star up their ass. people who can be quiet without becoming wildly uncomfortable are always appreciated. skillful people. people who get all excited to hip me to tremendous music. also, paul laffoley is blowing my mind. and i plan to run into jodorowsky in paris over a deck of cards sometime.

Music:

people who sing the hell out of it, whatever it is. field recordings are the most awesome, esp. porch music committed nakedly to wax. krystle kaye warren is the best thing ever to open her mouth in this joint as far as i'm concerned. overhearing private music unexpectedly is the most beautiful. hugh coltman, yael naim, mr harry nilsson, of montreal, fela n femi & other afrobeat stylings, sun ra & his spaceship, tom waits, leonard cohen, brecht n weill, caetano veloso, silvio rodriguez, gillian welch, brett dennen, graham lindsay, poetry crooned to me long distance late at night. gogol bordello in person, crickets the speed of humans, fado esp. amalia rodriguez, regina spektor, musical saws, zagnut zirkus orkestar, all kinds of demented lurching freak cabaret music, mississippi john hurt, voluptuous eastern european music like an arrow in my heart, accurate spanking, jorge ben, eydie gorme, glass breaking, eavesdropping on the neighbors humping, loretta lynn, the carter family, all the harry smith anthology stuff, spooky halloween bands, barbara dane, nina simone, prayerful hindustani classical vocal music, bob dylan, everything roberto fuentes touches, joni mitchell, bessie smith, big mama thornton, cbk's wild creaky howling like nothing alan lomax ever heard, billie holiday, charlie parker, gilberto gil, simon diaz, juana molina, diamanda galas, melanie, miriam makeba, old calypso, jeff lewis, toubab krewe, the ditty bops, stevie wonder, goran bregovic, zap mama, liz guilliams, meshell n'degeocello, the moore brothers, paco de lucia, loudon III and rufus wainwright, andrew bird's bowl of fire, beatles of course, stones too, dayna kurtz, django reinhardt, saheli and all her components, joao gilberto "who teaches us about what is beautiful", ben carroll's mean-ass blues, david bowie and the girlyboy rockers of the world, simon dawes, bernard2, leslie feist, jeff buckley, lhasa de sela, os mutantes, gal costa, cartola marcus pereira, maria bethania, cesaria evora, ansambl mastika, rasputina, bjork, inara george, crooners, paul mc cartney's solo stuff, paul simon's early stuff, john and yoko, mathieu boogaerts, and anything with a glass harmonica in it. i'm more and more impressed with the beach boys, not just bubblegum. jamie lidell is my favorite nerd inspiration lately, right next to jon brion.

Movies:

Hop Horn Beam
..bollywood musical spectaculars. king of hearts, henry + june, festen, the secret adventures of tom thumb, fight club, hedwig + the angry inch, emir kusturica, terry gilliam, fellini, bunuel, jan svankmeyer, the brothers quay (institut benjamenta especially), almodovar, jeunet + caro, david lynch, charlie chaplin, buster keaton, old cheesecake musicals ESPecially singing in the rain, the best ever. the kill bills are wonderfully comforting. and i will always love The Last Unicorn.
