"I'm Leaving Sangster, higher than the plane that takes me home..."
Leaving Sangster broke onto the Ontario music scene in early 2005 and have quickly become a recognizable name in the Hamilton area. Performing up to 4 nights a week the band has developed a diverse flavour that cannot easily be pigeonholed, yet proudly they cite their individual influences as The Tragically Hip, The Rheostatics, Wilco, Tool, and The Smashing Pumpkins to name a few.
The line-up is built on the friendship and music of Andrew Barbisan (Guitar), Josh Harris (Drums), JP Shalala (bass) and Justin Sawicki (Vocals/Guitar). Born and raised in different parts of Ontario (Niagara Falls, Milton, St. Catharine’s, Thunder Bay respectively) the band congregated at Mohawk College in Hamilton and augmented what was then a solo project of Justin’s. Since then the band has shared the stage with such names as Hamiltonian Tomi Swik and continue to play anywhere and everywhere that lends an audience for listening.
In early 2008 the band and their fans embraced the release of a self-titled E.P recorded in Hamilton's legendary Grant Avenue Studio. The newly recorded songs bring to the helm a fusion of rhythmic rock and pop that are more infectious then a common cold and in mid 2008 the band had the honor of being the feature artist on “Garageband.comâ€.
What's best about Leaving Sangster is that they have no intentions of stopping. Currently the four are in the planning stages of a tour, a full length LP, and everything that comes along with getting their music to as many ears as possible.
