DJ Butta

About Me

DJ BUTTA came up during the golden era of hip-hop. Born and raised in Miami, the local graffiti scene introduced him to the culture and music early on, and sparked a love which would define the rest of his life. He began his DJ career in 1990 rocking house parties and selling custom tapes at school. Eager to put his name on the map, Butta formed DoubleCross Entertainment and developed a formula for his brand of mixtapes, incorporating numerous creative elements to it. His quality-over-quantity philosophy along with an aggressive work ethic helped bring Buttas name to the forefront and establish his fan-base.As time passed, Buttas influence over the Miami scene grew. He had become instrumental in breaking new artists, which caught the attention of the major labels. Def Jam named DJ Butta one of the five key DJs in that market. Epic Records hired him to organize some of their various mixtapes. Justo flew him up to New York to witness the first of what would become the annual mixtape awards ceremony, which Butta would become a nominee of years later. He began reporting to Hits magazine and later rapattacklives. Whenever possible, Butta would form alliances with many of the artists that came to town, one of them being the group dead prez which later would enlist Butta as their road DJ. Armed with these newfound relationships and the exclusives that they provided, Butta put himself in a position to contend with even the top NY DJs. It was during this time that he organized a groundbreaking compilation mixtape with 6 other local big dogs, solidifying his position as one of Miamis heavyweights. With a willingness to take chances in pursuing his dreams, Butta relocated to Uptown, NY in the spring of 2000. This decision was a pivotal move in taking his career to the next level. He immediately set up shop and began flooding the streets with his trademark Butta CDs. Two years later, after seeing a significant rise in demand for his product, Butta was nominated for Best New Mixtape DJ in the TDK Justos 2002 mixtape awards as well as being heavily sought after to host an array of mixtapes for upcoming and unsigned talent.Although traditionally known for blazing the mixtape circuit, Butta is determined to leave his mark on hip-hop through numerous ventures. For years he has been honing his craft as a producer, which he does as part of his DoubleCross production team. Butta has spun throughout countless clubs and has worked with many of the top promoters and venues up and down the east coast. He has had guest appearances at various college radio stations as well as several underground radio shows of his own throughout the years.Currently Butta has released volume ..5 of his successful Makaveli 7 Deadly Sins series as well as volume ..18 of his highly acclaimed hip-hop series which has been blessed by an array of hosts such as Jadakiss, Jim Jones (Dipset), Peedi Crakk (State Property) to name a few. Butta has always managed to stay a step ahead of the game and has been remixing songs using original production, which you can hear blended throughout any of his latest CDs. Music runs through his veins and DJ Butta is destined to become a household name and go down in hip-hop history for putting it down like many of the DJs that came before him.DOUBLECROSS, MIXTAPEKINGS.COM, THE ARKITECHS, & AZZURE/INDIGO RED PRESENTS:DJ BUTTA & TALIB KWELI "WAKE UP"AUTHENTIC HIP HOP MUSIC BY TALIB KWELI, DEAD PREZ, MOS DEF, A-ALIKES, IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE, THE ROOTS, SHABAAM SADEEQ, LUPE FIASCO, KIDZ IN THE HALL, & MORE!WAKE UP MIXTAPE ON RAPCITY!!!!!!!WAKE UP ON BET'S THE BLACK CARPET
