While most of his peers were simply playing video games and watching movies, Zane Alexander Pond, known to the music community as DJ Zane, had latched onto a passion. At the incredible age of just 14 years young, Zane began his career as a DJ. Now 18, Zane’s drive to perfect his craft continues stronger than ever. Zane has caught the eyes (and ears) of clubbers, promoters and music-lovers in South Florida and beyond, while he has polished his skills at a phenomenal rate.Zane is the youngest artist to grace the turntables of such world-class venues as the renowned Club Space, Nocturnal and Twilo in Miami – such honors usually reserved for seasoned veterans. But Zane’s passion for house music is infectious, and promoters have been able to look past his young age to give him the chance to deliver his unique blend of house, minimal, tech and electro to elated clubbers.Music has always been a driving force in Zane’s lifestyle. Since the age of ten, he has experimented with instruments – everything from the tuba to the baritone saxophone to bass guitar. Soon after, he discovered the genre which has developed into a lifelong passion: house music. Inspired by such artists as Bad Boy Bill, Carl Cox and Donald Glaude, Zane brings similar elements in his sets, such as a quick, quirky mixing style, unique tracks and continually keeping the groove flowing and the dance-floor moving. Part of the next generation of DJs, Zane brings a fresh approach to his mixing style and track selection.At his first electronic music event, Zane drank in the synergy between the DJ and the crowd. He saw the DJ manipulating vinyl, along with an electrified dancefloor, and was instantly mesmerized. This moment was so impactful to Zane he delved right in, acquiring his own gear and starting what has become a vast, diversified music collection. Embracing the roots of electronic music culture, Zane is at heart a vinyl-junkie, but also embraces the digital tools available to him, incorporating hot, unreleased music only available in digital formats into his sets.The future is bright for Zane. Already having proven his skills as an up-and-coming DJ, developing a fan-base in his native South Florida, and building an impressive library of music, Zane has been steadily sharpening his production skills on original music and remixes. Working hard in his studio, Zane has forthcoming original releases on Durty Records, as well as several remixes in-the-works.
