As a natural born musician, Jason began his
journey into the musical arts by taking piano lessons
when he was just eight years old.
He continued his lessons for ten years while in the
meantime composing pieces for himself, and for a
local theatre group.
His musical knowledge didn't stop there.
Influenced by classical music and jazz, Jason then
learned the trumpet, trombone, and french horn.
He also grew up with great bands such as Metallica,
Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, and many others. Jason
then started learning his way around the strings
and began playing the guitar.
It wasn't untill the 90's when he was
introduced into the mind blowing sound of electronic
music. Soon after Jason began going to
underground electronic music shows
experiencing for his first time breaks, drum and bass,
techno and trance. When he turned 21 and
saw George Acosta spin at the Shadow Lounge in
South Beach when he realized that trace was the way
he wanted to go. Two months later Jason bought his
own turntables and mixer with great aspirations on
one day becoming a DJ.
"It was how the music made me feel. I remember
standing amongst the crowd and the lights, listening
to him spin. The feeling I got listening to the power
of the music made me feel like no words can
explain. I was happy and carefree. There was no
where else at that point where I'd rather be."
At that point he knew he wanted to share his love for
the music with others, and make other people feel
the way he felt that night.
Not very long after the purchase of tables and an
extensive record collection, Jason entered his first
contest and won first place in the Miller Light Open Deck DJ
Competition held in Ft. Lauderdale. At that point a world of opportunity
opened up and he soon started spinning at clubs and
lounges in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.
Due to his crazy and slightly mad personality, and obsession
with Alice in Wonderland, Jason earned the name
"The Mad Hatter" and it became his DJ name.
The Mad Hatter's first major show was with his
DJ partner Rabbit at an event in Hollywood.
The majority of the crowd packed into the
room he was performing in, leaving the other
three rooms almost empty. And the reputation
of the amazing sounds of The Mad Hatter were born.The fast growing popularity of Rabbit vs Mad Hatter spread very fast. The ever so popular demo CD flew across America.The mad Hatter and Rabbit had a dream. The dream was to rebuild the scene to what it used to be, to how we remember. To spread our passion for the music and find the bedroom DJs that needed recognition. From that dream the Electronic Music Alliance was built. With this company The Rabbit vs Mad Hatter show performed around FL week to week.Now the deadly duo has a show ready, to suck you in and not let you go. With the hard trance sounds of The Mad Hatter and Rabbit, and the powerful lighting by Subtronic, non electronic music lovers even get sucked in to the high-energy, hard banging, blood pumping sounds of Rabbit vs Mad Hatter.
