Create Your Own!Tashawnya Menefee is the true definition of a survivor. She has endured the neglect of both parents, traumatic deaths of loved ones and growing up in a lower-class community to becoming the founder of Show Me The Way Foundation, Inc (SMTW). This foundation helps misfortunate children who are orphaned due to parents they receive the essential tools to lead a successful life with healthy teaching environments, mentors and academic programs. Now, Tashawnya has not only made her dream come true, she is giving children that might not otherwise feel able, the opportunity to dream too.Tashawnya was born on August 11, 1977 in San Diego, California. Shortly after her birth, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Her mother was not able to provide stability, therefore her grandmother served as a mother figure until she succumbed to pancreatic cancer. Tashawnya was only 15 when bearing this lost and it appeared as if she was trapped between four walls of parent neglect and loss of loved ones; however Tashawnya knew she had a special purpose in life and continue to move on. She moved into her first apartment at the age of 16 and completed her high school education by the age of 17. By the age of 21, Tashawnya obtained her Certificate in Business / Office Administration from Dekalb Technical Institute. Currently Tashawnya is a National Program Study Coordinator for the HIV/TB Department.She is also a licensed real-estate agent for the state of Georgia.In March 2004, Tashawnya became the president and founder of the SMTW foundation. Known as Auntie to many of the organizations participants, Tashawnya and SMTW continues to provide encouraging advice about education, sex, peer pressure and fulfilling dreams. It is Tashawnya favorite expression It is not where youre from, but where you are going that she continues to remind the young dreamers of her organization. Some of the programs offered through the SMTW foundation include but are not limited to Language Arts, Real-Estate, Fashion, Science, Math, Computer Technology, Tennis and Golf. Tashawnya is a true survivor whose burning fire will not fade away, but will continue to be a guiding light for all who have doubt. She exudes strength and hope, and the SMTW Foundation does the same...
