About Me

I'm a research coordinator for a healthcare research firm by day and an actor/singer by night in the Washington, DC area. I have a beautiful wife, Melissa, and we live with our two dogs (a beagle and wolf/husky mix), two aquatic frogs and a bearded dragon. You can check out my acting career at www.jaytilley.net as well as my Yahoo! Group, The Green Room, at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thegreenroomdc/. And, in case you didn't notice, I'm a HUGE Dallas Cowboys fan (even when times are tough!), and I love the Atlanta Braves and my alma mater, the South Carolina Gamecocks! GO COCKS!!! :-)

My Interests

Acting, singing, sports, writing, reading comics and plays, traveling, fishing, caring for exotic pets, going to the movies and the theatre, spending time with my wife and family, hanging with friends, etc.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who isn't neurotic, an arrogant jerk or a diva! Oops! That rules out most of my theatre friends! ;-) Kidding! :-) Um ... I guess anyone who would like to meet me.

Music:

Basically all types. Mostly I like country, classic rock, hard rock, heavy metal, musicals and operas or operettas. Oh, and I'm a total sucker for 80s music! :-)

Movies:

I like all types, mostly historical epics and science fiction or comic book movies. Some of my all-time favorites are both Star Wars trilogies, any of the Star Trek films (especially II, VI and First Contact), Jaws, Wyatt Earp, Braveheart, The Godfather Trilogy, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Gettysburg, The Hunt For Red October, Batman Begins, Superman, Conan The Barbarian, Tora! Tora! Tora!, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Indiana Jones Trilogy, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and The Exorcist.

Television:

Some of my current favorites are the new Battlestar Galactica, Smallville, House, Ghost Hunters, American Idol (one of my guilty pleasures!), HBO's Rome, The Shield, VH1's Best Week Ever, Ebert & Roeper and the Movies, Jericho and Bravo's Inside The Actor's Studio. All time favorites include any of the Star Trek shows (especially Deep Space Nine!), Quantum Leap, The West Wing, The Golden Girls (believe it or not!), The Cosby Show, MASH, Frasier, Seinfeld, Cheers, The X-Files and Family Ties.

Books:

Sadly, I don't read nearly as much as I should, but some of my all-time favorites from the little reading I've done over the years are The Exorcist (even better than the movie!), Jaws (ditto!), The Dark Knight Returns (one of the best comic novels ever!), Vendetta (one of my favorite Star Trek: The Next Generation books!), Imzadi (another great ST:TNG book), The Journey of Natty Gann, any of Judy Blume's books and many of Stephen King's books, particularly The Stand and The Green Mile series.

Heroes:

This will sound corny, but my heroes are people like my sisters and parents, my wife, my best friend Joel, many of my theatre buddies, great teachers I've had over the years and anyone who has battled their weight and won!
