Niels Werdenberg, born in Basel 1975.
Got a portable tape recorder at age nine and started capturing language and sounds of wild animals. In 1986 I produced my first mixtapes, using own recordings and language cuts from radio and double-tapedeck for sampling and mixing. Some of it was reused and can be heared on NOVARTIS WANTS TO STEAL MY JAZZ-GENES (1994-2001) , an album of rogue experimentation, produced on a 4 track tape machine.
Started drumming in 1991 to Black Sabbath tunes. Played in a few bands since. I play drums in the noisy avantgarde bands SPECK and SCHORF and in the Rootspro'jects. Will even sing and play Synthesizer, if unattended. Some of this can be heared on CAPE POND ICE (2003) , a hybrid album between dubby lounge jazz, trip hop and aggressive noise.
In 2005 the album SUN OUT AND THE ROAD IS HOT AND DUSTY (2005) was released, a blues based road movie in centripetal motion, from confusion to peace.
