Reiki Session

In a Reiki session the client relaxes, fully clothed, on a massage table or seated while the healer holds his hands on or above the client. Reiki is not massage, nor its based on belief or suggestion. A treatment can last half an hour or longer depending on the treatment required.

Practitioners use the standard hand positions and commonly a full treatment is given covering all the important organs of the body from the head to the feet. There is no pressure on the body making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions, sometimes hands are even held away from the body. The energy flows wherever it is required and can normally be felt as a warm sensation or tingling in the body. Receiving Reiki is a very relaxing and soothing experience!

Reiki and the Chakras

To understand Reiki and the hand positions used one will have to have some knowledge of the chakras. The Reiki hand positions covers and treats all the major chakras. The chakras are both connected to the physical organs in our body and the different layers in the aura.

7 Centers of Energy

Chakra is a Sanskrit word and means "wheel". A wheel that spins around its own axis and can spin fast or slowly. A chakra will spin in relation to the energy level of your system.

The whole being, including the brain, has one chakra, making a total of 7 major chakras. These chakras are situated at the top of the head, forehead, throat, heart, solar plexus, the navel and at the bottom of the pelvis.

The Root chakra

Color - red
Physical Location - base of the spine
Purposes - kinesthetic feelings, movement
Spiritual Lesson - material world lessons
Physical Dysfunctions- lower back pain, sciatica, varicose veins, rectal tumors, depression, immune related disorders
Mental and Emotional Issues - survival, self esteem, social order, security, family

The Navel Chakra

Color - orange
Physical Location - lower abdomen to the navel
Purposes - emotional connection

The Throat Chakra

Color - blue

Purposes - learning to take responsibility for one's own needs

There is a clear connection between the condition of a chakra and the condition of the corresponding organ. A chakra can be over active, under active or in balance. Using Reiki can give the chakras balance and the organs health.
