I'm alive and learning to enjoy the ride...

About Me

Clays current CD, These Days, was released in 2005 to the AMA / R&R chart and debuted with an impressive ..14 position! The highest debut by a small indie label in the history of the Americana chart! These Days went all the way to ..6, spent an amazing 7 weeks in the Top 10 and a total of 18 weeks in the Top 40. Ultimately, Clay made the Top 40 albums of the year on the AMA / R&R Americana AirPlay Chart, with These Days coming in at ..38! Clay was in great company sharing the Top 40 with the likes of Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Alison Krauss, Dwight Yoakum and Ryan Adams.
These Days has strong cross-over appeal and is doing well at commercial Country stations as well. Clays second single, the title track These Days is currently out to secondary Country radio and going for adds.
Clays first single "Long, Lonely Life" was released to secondary Country radio on October 05 and was added to 170 stations nationally and hit ..83 on the Music Row Country chart.
RADIO & RECORDS FEATURES CLAY DUBOSE AS THEIR AMERICANA SPOTLIGHT ARTIST
After scoring an impressive showing with his debut solo outing, Rewriting History, at Americana radio, Texas musical chameleon Clay DuBose has kicked things up a few notches with his sophomore effort, These Days. Taking his cues from country rock, blues, Texas swing and a tad of Buck Owens' Bakersfield sound, DuBose has fulfilled his promise by becoming a core artist for Americana radio. The new album is already top 10 on the Americana Airplay chart - the highest ride any independent artist has ever taken. Portions of the album were produced in Los Angeles with DuBose's friend Will Ray and feature such great session players as Greg Leisz, Danny Timms, Mike Clark and Rami Jaffe. The rest of the project was completed back in Texas and co-produced by Brian Hofeldt of The Derailers, with that very band playing along. I like "Long, Lonely Life," "No Accident" and "Less is More."
John Schoenberger Radio & Records / Americana Editor
Radio and Records, in featuring Clay as their Americana Spotlight Artist (Summer 2003), had this to say about his previous record Rewriting History: Since its release, this project has developed an impressive story at Americana radio. Rewriting History ultimately made it to the ..23 position of the Radio & Records Americana Chart, to ..2 on the Progressive Country Chart, to ..10 on the Roots Music Report and to ..7 on the Country Roots Music Chart. Love Me Two Times climbed the Music Row Country Chart and the rest of the world took notice as the song was added to 33 play lists internationally. It reached ..17 on the European Country Music Associations Top 200 Chart. Big Kev Ploghoft, music director for WDVR and a program host at Sirius Satellite Radio said "If Your Heart Ain't Broke was one of the top tracks of the year at WDVR."
Inspired by the success of Rewriting History, Clay went back to work to record his most ambitious record yet, entitled These Days. Again he enlisted the help of Will Ray and ace L.A. players like Greg Leisz, Danny Timms, Mike Clarke and Rami Jaffe of The Wallflowers. I decided to go for an edgy sound and no one walks the edge like Will, says Clay. On the title track, Will plays some mournful slide work capped off by an incendiary solo. Clay also went home to Texas to co-produce four songs with Brian Hofeldt of The Derailers. These tracks feature The Derailers, Augie Meyers, and Big John Mills. This is an all-star, whos who of Texas music, says Clay. I was honored to play with them. We had fun and you hear it in the tracks. The first single Long, Lonely Life came from this session and is a rollicking, swinging slice of Texas. These Days is a 12 song journey that ends with Garth Hudson of The Band on piano and accordion accompanying Clay in a torchy reading of Bob Dylans I Threw It All Away. The album was tracked in California, Texas and Tennessee but finally mixed in just one place...Back Stage Studio by celebrated mixer and producer Chuck Ainlay. Watching Chuck take this labor of love and put it all together was quite an experience. Music just keeps getting better and better, says Clay.
As the title track states: Im alive and learning to enjoy the ride...These Days.
