I am a Retired Lt. Col. from the United States Air Force. After 30 years, the forced me into reitrement due to excessive combat. I was in Rangoon, Iraq at the time. November 2004. Getting use to civilian life has not been easy for me. Then I was forced to leave my new home because of a hurricane (Katrina). In the process, the Government had just moved all of the veterans records from St. Louis, MO to New Orleans, "for easier access." When the storm hit, all of our records were lost. Not only did the storm affect my living arrangement, but it also stopped my income. Due to the loss of records, over 14,000 veterans' retirement and disability checks have stopped. We have had to re-file all of our paperwork and now are waitting for final records to be located in the archives of the Armed Forces Records Room, before we can start getting our well diserved retirement or disability checks. Now I am forced to take a job in a world I know nothing about.
I will survive because I have someone who supports me totally and stands by my side. The ones I worry about are those that have noone nor anyplace to turn to. What has happened to My Brothers and Sisters at Arms? How long will it be before we get our money. It is ironic, the Government has passed a bill forcing companies to pay the retiries what is owed to them or face criminal charges, what will happen to them. My back pay alone will almost make me to be considered well off. But will I get? It is almost a year to date give 2 weeks! Let's see what happens.

It took me 48 years to find the perfect mate for me. It is nice to be at peace with her in my life. She gives me all that I need in life. When I am down she holds me till I am up again. When I think it is to hard she makes it easier for me. When I need it hard she gets it there. When I have a bad dream from PTSD, she talks me back to her heart. She is the realest person I know and even tells me when I am wrong, which I love about her. I have seen enough battlefields and disaster for any 4 people's lives. I am happy to wake up and see a smiling face. Happiness, hmmmmmmm what a concept!!!! After 30 years in the military, life changes again and I LOVE the change. Thank you for loving me, Robyn!
