In 1998 Hydro found himself in the world of US Hip Hop, working as an intern at Def Jam USA - while DMX was reaching his peeks through Ruff Riders, Ja Rule Being Launched by Murder Inc Records, Jay-Z and Damon Dash rocking Roc A Fella Records, Common, Talib Kweli and Mos Def joining forces in the early days to release Respiration, with rap just going through its transitional phase and making history Hydro was bang in the middle of all of this, however Hip Hop was about to transform him.

Living in the Big Apple he was taking in more than the musical culture but the culture of the streets, from The Polo Ground projects to Fort Green the streets hit home hard, Hydro wasnt about to find the American dream but find an en route to the Bronx and the story dissolved into the street mayhem of what was inevitable. In South Bronx street life imprinted on him something deeper than his story but the story of the world that we live in and the world that consumed all for a minute, an hour, a month or a life time.

The battles, the studio sessions, the mixtapes, the shows, the desire to home hip hop or for hip hop to home him, intertwined with something other than love but survival. Watching the game unfold, the misery, the glory, the lack of money, the struggle and the side line hustles determined a young Hydro to seriously execute his music career in another country.

Hydro’s take on the experience is; "Being in the birthplace of hip hop and surviving in the streets of New York taught me a great deal. What I learned out there has benefited me as a business man and as a person."

There is one of two things people do at the cross roads; Sink or Swim? Hydro embarked on a degree but never lost his love or passion for the music. Now with his own label and highly tuned lyrical skills, the undisputed Hydro experience is about to spill into action with the backing of some industry giants.

Hydro’s take on this is; "You can never be ignorant throughout your life, gaining a business degree was the first step towards figuring out the industry. I know what I have to give and what to expect. Working with A list names in hip hop music ups my game. Its a pleasure to collaborate with musical geniuses, thats when I’m at my best,".

The lows are the highs and there is something to be reaped in everything, New York is the Home of Hip Hop and it found Hydro once more, this time with a professional career behind him he took part in the history of Hip Hop and now it’s his time to take Hip Hop further.

Hydro’s album will be launched in 2008, get ready to hear some of the biggest producers and artists, a unique blend of music and flow.

Hydro’s album Crucial will be in your stores 2008. The UK hasn’t managed to blend US and UK production and features in this way before. Nothing about this album is ordinary;

Our Producers are globally acclaimed producer L.E.S; 10 times Platinum with "Welcome to Miami" Will Smith, Nas’ Executive producer and has produced for the likes of J-Lo and 50 Cent, LES brings his distinctive bounce to the Hydro Project. Clinton Sparks has produced for Notorious B.I.G, Jay Z, Busta Rhymes, Diddy, Fabolous, D-Block & Mobb Deep to name but a few. Mr Shabz had a hit with Haters at the age of 19 and has now formulated one of UKs strongest production teams Music Kidz with K1. Along with Fatal from the legendary 2PAC’s Outlawz group and Quan who many claim stole the show on Nas’ last album with the US and UK hit "Just a moment". Virgin Records latest signing, the sexy Australian r ’n’ b starlette Che’nelle, puts in an incredible collaboration. HYDRO BACKGROUND

Hydro is more than just a talented songwriter, rapper or mc. He is one of the business minds behind the UDE movement – which started in the Bronx, New York in the 90’s, and has now expanded across the world to the UK and Europe.

Hydro holds an executive position at Underdogg Entertainment as well as being the main artist for the label. Currently based in his birthplace of Glasgow – he combines his experiences whilst growing up in both the NYC and Glasgow, “..both place’s are special to me, I grew up from a boy to a man in my years in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Harlem, I was born in Glasgow, went to school there and made a return in my twenties….both cities are different, yet similar in many ways…”

Dro’s previous mainstream single ‘All Yall remix (feat. N.O.R.E) remained at the number 1 chart position in the HMV Download Chart, in late 2006, for 3 consequetive weeks. Outselling artist such as Beyonce, The Game, P.Diddy, Justin Timberlake, Akon, Nelly Furtado, U2, etc.

The single is taken from the hugely anticipated new Hydro album “Crucial” which will be on worldwide release in Spring 2007. With 3 more singles dropping in 2007, Hydro was given Tim Westwoods (Europes no.1 urban dj) stamp of approval in a recent interview on the world famous Saturday night BBC Radio 1 rap show, and comes highly recommended by his peers in the big leagues of the hip-hop game;

With constant radio airplay, his tracks are on heavy rotation on BBC Radio1, Kiss FM, Choice FM, XFM, Capitol Radio, Galaxy FM, BBC 1XTRA, 2XS, BBC Asian Network, plus a variety of regional radio stations around the globe – from Europe to the US to Japan.

Being no stranger to media attention, he has licensed music to television channels such as Sky Sports and MTV, and appears in almost every major national newspaper in the UK, along with genre specific magazines such as HHC and RWD because of his phenomenal buzz and tremendous work ethic.

Stand out moments from Hydro’s live track record include, performing at London Wembley Arena on 2 occasions, in front of sell out crowds each time. Headlining the Autotrader / Fast & Modified annual car show two years running – blowing away attendances of 10,000 plus people in the Royal Highland Centre. Performing at the Carling Academy and Brick Lane, along with rocking countless smaller stages, building his now electric reputation at local venues in the Bronx, Manhatten and Glasgow over the years.

Hydro said “I like the stadium events, but I love the grimey venues…I feel that’s where the audience understand the music firsthand and are truthful…I performed at venues most rappers would be scared to go…it keeps me sharp and ruthless…” Hydro is scheduled to tour the world with fellow UDE artists in 2008.

Hydro has been writing performing and creating new music, through a variety of projects for 12 years now. Starting in his early teens, the self-taught diverse musician has lived a life full of turbulence – from the death of his father due to alcoholism when he was 9 years old, growing up amongst drug addicts and criminals, losing close friends to gun violence and dealing with domestic abuse. Hydro states, "..some scars never go away but my music has guided me through it all, i really value life, its a precious thing."

Hydro’s honesty in translating complex human emotions through his songs, creates an instant bond with listeners. His consistency, creativity, content and concepts is what keeps fans gripped – and keeps his sound fresh and original, catering to a wide and diverse fan base.
