The Invaders

Skankin' Since 1989!

About Me

The Invaders are a nine-piece Milwaukee-based band that embraces the Ska sounds. Taking influences from the British "Two-Tone" movement, early Ska legends like Desmond Dekker and Laurel Aitken and even the likes of Oingo Boingo and Fishbone, the Invaders roll this into their own brand of fue l injected Ska. Formed in 1987 taking their name from the old 1960's television show of the same name. Played mostly to friends and covered a vast array of 60's garage grunge and 80's college rock. In 1989 the band went full forward into being a Ska act, releasing "Skank Tank" in 1991. Over a ten year period, the band released four more projects and appeared on over 24 compilations. AWARDS; 1999 and 2000 WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) awards for Best Ska Group. Voted Best Milwaukee Band by the Shepard Express Reader's Poll in 1998. Toured throughout this ten year period and signed to an East Coast Record Label, Elevator Records. Toured this High Energy ska in their "Ska Bus" and played countless Clubs, Colleges and festivals all over Wisconsin, the Mid-West and the U.S. In 1999, the members split up to take a hiatus and do other projects like "707" and "the Fallout." and the occasional Invader show. During this period, there was tragedy when Invader Saxist Stephan "Woody" Angelos passed away from an accidental overdose. The Invaders came back together again in 2006 showing why they have become legendary as one of the 3rd wave of Ska's best acts. Invader founding member and front man "Max" Wisniewski and long time band mates Paul "Pipewrench" Rickert (keys) and Karl "Toys" Landwehr (tenor Sax) are currently joined by former "Fallout" members Scott "Ska-Dee" Kallenbach (drums), Beth Wisniewski (violin). Bassist Ken "the Man" Seigel, guitarist Mark "Fishman" Samman, alto saxist Mary Rodgers and trumpet player, California Joe round out the line-up. Why not see 'em or book 'em today? Cheers! Sounds Like: Brewtown Ska was initially 3rd wave, influenced by 2nd wave Ska (Specials, Beat, Selector, Bad Manners, Madness), Oingo Boingo, Fishbone, the Toasters, the Untouchables and perhaps some Police too! We've been in it a while now and since have experienced much in our exploits. I'm sure those gained influences have shown in our recent material.
