About Me

Greetings! I'm Max, singer from the Invaders and a Firefighter for the City of Greenfield. I love listening to and playing music (obviously SKA), classic movies, classic cars, auto racing, Military and American history, art and painting, being outdoors and camping and I prefer sunshine and warm weather over winter weather!
If you want more about the Invaders, hear the music, check out tons of band pics and learn Invader history, go to myspace.com/brewtownska.
I grew up in Hales Corners attended Hales Corners Elementry and graduated from Whitnal High School. I attended MATC a few years and Volunteered for the Hales Corners Fire Department. I was a DJ at WMSE 91.7 in the mid-eighties and became a full-time fireman in 1987. I have been Married twice. The first marriage blessed me with two beautiful children. Daughter Kara (a UW EauClaire student now!) and Son, Jason who is in High School. My ex and I are still friends and we all get along! Truely a rare blessing for all! I am currently married to Beth (yes, the violinist in the band!)and am truely in love! We met when she was a band groupie (soon becoming our merchandise Gal) and eventually my wife in 1997.
I never had any musical training and was not in bands until I was out of High School. I discovered my love for SKA in 1979 after hearing the English Beat and Madness on (the then new) MTV. I was hooked instantly! My first band experience was drummer in the band "Quiltz" formed by some High School friends and me in 1984. Just a rock band with a raw sound. I had fun in the Quiltz during that time, but was intrieged by Ska music. I left that band and I formed the Invaders back in 1987 along with long time childhood friend, Dean "The Chopper" Schwaller, again as the drummer. Soon we added a drummer so I could be out front singing. Along the way the band went through a lot of member changes and challenges, but we always triumphed over the rough times. After many years and success, the Invaders took a hiatus to pursue other projects. Mine were "707" and "The fallout" both in the early 00's! Currently the Invaders are back and I could not be happier! The band has won a third WAMI this year for best SKA band in Wisconsin and just released a new CD "Where Ya Gone?" available on-line. This band (and when I say this band, I mean the current line-up) is like family to me!
I have never sold out my love for the Ska music and hope to be involved in it and performing until I can't anymore! I still have dreams and hopes for the band and my future. I believe you should never give up and always pursue your dreams. You can stay young and alive if you just enjoy life and what it brings! Stress and anger are man-made, self inflicted and un-nesassary! May YOUR glass be half full! Cheers! and Skavoovee!
Special thanks to my Daughter Kara for getting myself and the band on myspace and getting us up and running on the web! Love you always girl!
