A (BRIEF) INTRODUCTION:
Cad ta an craic leat? Tj is ainm dom. I'm in the leadership of the IRSP's north american branch, IRSCNA, also serving as Prison Welfare Officer. I'm also a member of the Indigenous and Irish Alliance, I'm done work recently with Na Claoimhte Solais in educating youth, I organised REPUBLICANS FOR JUSTICE, a massive international day of protest and solidarity to return Noel Maguire to Ireland. I'm also on the committee that organises the annual Chicago Hunger Strike Commemoration. I've attended a few labour marches, demos and strikes in the past few years to show my support. It's good to see more of our fellow workers getting active in the class struggle as there is no solution but to organise and change the world. In the past I've been active in many campaigns from supporting Mumia Abu Jamal to protesting land seized from Indian tribes, organising in the workplace and so on.
So I think the greatest compliment I ever received was a fellar who said that my politics were 'about as subtle as a crowbar to the face'. I think he may have meant it as an insult, but it made my glands purr in deafening harmony.
My biggest goal is to become a professional writer. Im already "semi-pro" and have been published repeatedly. I've had regular writing jobs, such as Sport Editor for an Irish newspaper and am currently film and literature editor for Mass[es] Media. I've wanted to be a writer as far back as I can recall, and when I'm immersed in that process it's one of the few times I feel truly alive. I joined myspace to promote politics, but I've been meaning to promote and network with my writing here, too... and show my friend Criostoir some of my poetry and short stories to critique when I work up the courage!
I'm an Irish-American (as my friend Paul from Dublin put it, 'the ultimate insult'). Part of my family was also from the former Soviet Union. Both sides of my family came from fighting races who were never afraid of anything or anyone.
I enjoy toothpaste, travel guidebooks and music about Spain. Leave a comment on my page and I will respond as soon as is humanly possible.
I hate druggies and thieving wasters - if you're one of them don't bother me. Scéim amach!
