About Me

Young Aspiring Professionals (YAP) was started in Bergen, Norway, during the autumn 2004, when Datarock founders Fredrik Saroea and Ketil Mosnes were in the process of finishing their band's debut album. They figured (as many artists before them) that if you wanna do something properly, you might as well do it youself, and with help from the independent distro company VME the first YAP release (a re-release of Datarock's EP 'Computer Camp Love') became a reality early 2005. Apart from obviously releasing Datarock's own material, YAP has a vision of helping other bands that somehow share the same DIY-philosophy and create exiting and original music within the wide genres of pop and rock. The label's first non-Datarock signing was a Bergen-based punk/new wave trio called Quasimojo; a trio who combined the raw power of punkrock with the more intricate sides of bands like Talking Heads and B52's. Also, YAP recently made a deal with Norwegian instrumental rock pioneers Noxagt. The group's third album, simply called 'Noxagt', was released for the Norwegian marked May 15th 2006, on a license from Load Records (Usaisamonster, Lightning Bolt) who releases the record in the rest of the world. Noxagt's previous albums have been recieved as milestones within the experimental rock genre. Check them on www.noxagt.comDatarock's debut album 'Datarock Datarock' and Quasimojo's debut EP 'Gettin'up'n'goin'ova' both recieved critical acclaim in Norway, and now YAP will re-release these titles internationally during the autumn/summer of 2006. If that wasn't enough, new and fresh titles such as a single-release of Datarock's cult hit 'Fa-fa-fa' will also see the light of day within a near future.
