About Me

A year ago, I embarked on a new adventure in my life. After being a native of Maryland's Eastern Shore my entire life, I took on a new job, packed up my life, and shipped it all to Lancaster, PA, to start over. It was a bold move and a much needed shakeup in my life. It's one of the best things I ever did for myself.I am a 40-year-old divorced mother of an 12-year-old daughter with bipolar disorder. I love her more than life itself. In my eyes, she is the most special person who ever walked this planet. If you ask, I'll give you an education in early-onset child & adolescent bipolar disorder, as it is quite different from adult bipolar disorder. She lives with her father now, and it has proven to be a positive change for her. She has gone from being a child in trouble to being an honor student. This was one of the toughest decisions and most painful of my entire life. However, I think she obviously has benefitted greatly from it, or I wouldn't have done it. People tend to look on mothers who do not have primary custody of the children as bad mothers. That is wrong! I would be a bad mother if I persisted in selfishness instead of my daughter's best interest.I can find the humor in almost anything, and I love to laugh. If you can make me laugh, you've won me over. I also have a pretty dry wit, and I call things like I see them, in addition to having a mind that lingers in the gutter a good bit.I am a fiercely independent woman who stands on her own 2 feet and stands up for what she believes in. I'm a loyal friend, partner or lover according to the situation. In the words of KISS "I believe in something more than you can understand, yes, I believe in me." I constantly strive to better myself, which is never an easy task. How else do you grow as a person? My lifelong musical passion has been KISS. This band has been a part of my life since I was 10-years-old and the music has carried me through the worst of times and the best of times. It is possible to Rock & Roll All Nite and party every day within reason. Make the best of every moment and find the humor and joy in it. It's there. I've seen them live many times, as well as met them. I've also been known to frequent KISS Expos and tribute band shows as well. Nothing like a good KISSadventure to liven things up a bit.In my quiet time, I write poetry. I don't share much of it because it is so deeply personal when I write. It truly comes from the heart and soul within. When I write, it is usually an intense feeling when I get the inspiration. I've thought that maybe someday I'd like to publish a book. I have enough to make a deeply emotional one.My latest passion has become live band photography. I worked with The Steam for 5 months on a regular basis and still occasionally take shots of them when I go out. I've also photographed other bands and concerts for fun. I'd love to get out and do more of this and possibly make it a part-time job. I love it, and I learn something new with each show. I'm a lover of live music and bands, and I believe that passion shines through in my work. Look at my photo section, as well as the slide shows on my page. All of the live photography is mine (Rick Springfield, Paul Stanley, The Steam, ZO2, an The Primadonnaz). If you have a band and need some live shots, contact me. I'd love to come out.Welcome to my psycho circus. In Memory of Brandy:

Movies:

Love comedies like Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Ghostbusters, Monty Python & the Holy Grail, Men in Black, Caddyshack, Blue Collar Comedy Tour. Love the Winnie the Pooh movies (yes, I'm a big kid at heart). Music oriented movies like Grease, Detroit Rock City, Rock Star, etc. Christmas movies: It's a Wonderful Life, the original Miracle on 34th Street, The Santa Clause, Christmas Vacation. The Star Trek movies...Try me.

Television:

Smallville!!!, Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy, What About Brian?, classic Star Trek & Next Gen, Six Feet Under, Dawson's Creek (my late night guilty pleasure), Fresh Prince (you gotta love Will Smith), The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, South Park, Beavis & Butthead, Jackass, Gene $immons Family Jewels, Remington Steele, and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (this dude is FUNNY)...I also enjoy the occasional History Channel documentary and those medical shows on Discovery Health Channel. However, the only ones I actually make time for faithfully is Smallville and Supernatural.Supernatural--Set to Every Night I Wake up Screaming by Rick Springfield (too good to pass that up) Smallville--Save Me (pilot episode video)

Books:

When I need spiritual guidance, I read the Bible and other devotional type books. For enjoyment, I love a good rock star tell all or erotic fiction (there are a lot of good short stories out here on the net). I've also found out I still like the occasional Star Trek novel as well.

Heroes:

My daughter is my hero. This child suffers from bipolar disorder, yet she never once has stopped and wallowed in it or cried "why me" when she was feeling bad. She just struggles to try to do the right thing and to keep pushing forward. My Aunt Mary Ann is my other hero. Growing up, she was the epitome of the "modern woman." She was married, but she wore miniskirts, drove a sports car (not just any sports car either, a Corvette), and had a rewarding career (she's been a nurse for 45 years). After those were established she became a mother and still did all of the above. I took some of my cues from her. She still knows how to find the joy in life. She understands the true meaning of rock and roll all nite and party every day. :)My third hero or heroes would be KISS. First off, they proved that if you want it bad enough, you can achieve your dreams. A prime example of "never quit." In between the flash pots, sex appeal of spandex and grease paint, and merchandising, they taught me a few lessons in how to live life to the fullest:"Stand up for what you believe in."--Paul on KISS Alive "Call all your friends in the neightborhood and get your party started."--Shout it Out Loud "You gotta live like you're on vacation."--Lick it Up "I believe in something more than you can understand, yes, I believe in me."--I "Rock and roll all night and party every day."--Rock & Roll All Nite
