Unnati literally means "prosperity" in Hindi. A finalist of the Jazz World stage in Glastonbury's Unsigned Artists Competition 2005, Unnati's unique blend of global music encompasses Indian Classical, Hindi contemporary, Bengali folk, Jazz & Soul genres.
Unnati's track, Baarish Mey - In the Rain released on the Glastonbury Unsigned Artistes Compilation Album 2005 by Concrete Recordings and reached no 5 on the lastfm.com charts. Unnati is an upcoming singer, songwriter & composer with a passion for global music, Unnati believes "Music has no language barriers; it is the universal language of the world."
Unnati's debut album, "Vishwa The Universe of Music" was released in India with a tour of Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, & Coorg. In London, Unnati has performed at "Ignite" at Royal Albert Hall, London Mayor's Thames Festival, Wembley Conference Centre, Jazz World Unsigned Glastonbury Stage, Rise Festival and Croydon Mela.
In Summer 2006, Unnati toured the Caribbean (St Barts) with James Asher at Boubou's Music Festival in St. Barts. In October 2006, Unnati toured Mexico (Mexico City, Mexicali, Tijuana, Guanajuato, San Cristobel and Morelia) with Sonik Gurus for the Cervantino Festival, the largest music festival in North America.
Unnati is also writing and recording her forthcoming solo album collaborating with producers such as Talvin Singh (OK, Ha), Niraj Chag (Outcaste Records), Dhiren Raichura (Bandit Queen) Xan Blacq (Amy Winehouse) and David Sun (Sun Productions).
Unnati is also a guest vocalist and co-writer of tracks featuring on the solo albums of Talvin Singh, Sandeep Raval (World Music Percussionist), UK Rapper HardKaur, DJ Asif of Fusing Naked Beats and the multi talented Xan Blacq.
