About Me
I've been DJing for around 13 years and my production is rather nice. I like jackin', driving, electronic, tech-house music which is heavy on the low end......
For the hard sell, take-no-prisoners approach, here's a biog my manager wrote:
Nickelle - DJ/Producer/Remixer - London
Emerging as one of the star DJs of the underground house scene, Nickelle is slowly but surely cementing herself into the consciousness of ‘those in the know’ at the cutting edge of our movement. Move over boys…..resistance is futile!!
As well as DJing at ‘top drawer’ international clubs in Italy, Germany, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Asia and of course the UK, Nickelle has been causing quite a stir as a production talent too. With around three years studio experience under her belt, her first success came in early 2005 with her track “Dexterous†which was listed in the top 10 tunes of Miami ‘05 in iDJ Magazine. She truly arrived as a producer with the release of her outstanding remix of De Lacy’s “Hideaway†on Slip n Slide in December 2005. The dazzling Nickelle and Nessim mix of Pagano’s “Marvellous†was out on Iberican (Stereo, Madrid) at the end of November 2006. Watch this space for news of Nickelle’s latest remix for the Stereo stable, “My Religion†which is out shortly. Her “Jelly Baby†original has been signed to underground UK label, Dogmatik, with the Different Gear boys on remix duty for her. Arguably her best piece to date – a remix of Robytek’s “Sun†- is out right now on Italy’s ‘Rebirth’ label and has just been licensed for a full UK release on Art and Craft. Her music is making some serious waves, with support from the likes of Wally Lopez, Angel Moraes, Slacker, Nic Fanciulli, Tony Thomas, Tim Sheridan, Nathan Coles, etc,
As a DJ and indeed producer, Nickelle champions her own brand of “Progressive Tech-House, heavy on the low end. Expect to hear growling basslines, lively percussion, and solid, compressed beats, always with an element of dirty, jackin' funk"
Her style is very much individual – she doesn’t follow any trends and nor does she aspire to be like anyone else.
“We at iDJ have watched Nickelle’s career go from strength to strength and it's refreshing to see that a talented young DJ like this can still break through.†(Russell Deeks, Editor, iDJ Magazine)
History…. Nickelle was brought up in the Lake District in northern England and started mixing in 1994 at the precocious age of 15, inspired by visits to clubs such as Vague in Leeds and the Arena in Middlesbrough. After playing at warehouse parties and various gigs, she headed down to Brighton one day with her record bag and a few changes of clothes and never made it back home. It was in Brighton that she really began to make a name for herself as work came flooding in from the Escape, the Zap, Cuba, The Sound Gallery, Mansion house and Q-Club in Worthing and she was given a residency at the Honey Club. Nickelle formed a two-year partnership with Richard Innocent, playing gigs like Outrageous at Ministry of Sound under the moniker of ‘The Untouchables’. Concentrating on her solo career again, she went on to win an iDJ magazine DJing competition, which essentially brought her into the public domain. Shortly thereafter, she secured representation with her first manager. Her radio experience includes hosting a monthly show on Ministry of Sound Radio.
Gigs…. Nickelle is currently resident at Jaded at The End in London and has performed at clubs as varied and notorious as Club Class in Maidstone, Space in Bucharest, Turnmills in London, Vortex in Vienna, Mix in Dubai, the official closing party of the Berlin Film Festival, Dolce Verde and Taotec in Tuscany, Eden in Ibiza, Drop in Hong Kong, Attica in Singapore, a 3-year, monthly residency at Chalet in Rome, Centro and Stadium in Jakarta, Double Six in Bali, Rumours in Beijing, Tomorrow in Zu Hai, MGM in Xi-an and 911 Club in Wenzhou. Other appearances on home soil include Canvas, ‘Subliminal Sessions’ at Heaven in London, Escape in Swansea, Ahead in Birmingham and other gigs such as Ministry of Sound, the Cross, Fabric and many more.
"We are exceptionally proud to have such an exciting talent as Nickelle on board. She adds great credibility to our operation and we look forward to sharing in her continued success†(Franco Risico, Manager).
