BIOGRAPHY:
Hi everybody, my name’s Simo and I’m totally involved with music.
I started playin' bass at the age of fifteen I guess. My first studies started at the Music Academy called “Santa Caterina” a quite famous school situated in my hometown. I stayed there for almost one year, practicing for many hours and learning the basics of bass technique and music theory. After that time I chose to continue studying by myself, buying books and closely analyzing various methods.
Not too late I realized that I needed someone who could teach me something "more" about bass, so I got lessons from a really amazing bass player. I followed those lessons for more than two years and improved immensely.
Beetween 2005 and 2006 I have been a student at the “Academy of Music Lizard” of Florence. I quit there pretty soon, I am not that type of guy who likes to be completely driven on rails as famous Academies usually do.
During the years, I've developed my techniques in different ways always striving for something more 'till getting the best results possible. I am pretty satisfied with my techniques right now, but I always remember and repeat to myself that if there’s even a little chance to learn something new you’ve got to get it! I am constantly expanding my horizons and choose to keep my ears open to all forms of music.
After a short experience in Germany as musician for about 1 year, where I have played Rock and Blues with some local bands beetween 2004 and 2005, I moved back to Florence trying to set my life completely around music.
In 2006 my music passion split to another direction which is probably a little less artistic but I can ensure you it’s still fantastic and creative as well! Opening my own Recording Studio with an old friend of mine my “career” seems now to be a little bit more to the direction of producing bands.
But it is great ‘cause it keeps me in touch with musicians and with music every day, any time. Damn, that feels great! Moreover, being a sound engineer for live shows makes me travel a lot, one of those things I love to do the most!
