About Me

"These are songs where guitars sound like guitars, words are only words and emotions are trapped between the grooves". Stiv Cantarelli got himself a name some time ago by laying new American routes for our local alt-country with Satellite Inn. Now he is back with the second Goldrust album, published by El Cortez Records in Portland, the label of their mentors Richmond Fontaine. The most fanatics may already have understood from the name that this project follows the step of the early Neil Young with Crazy Horse, that classical rock with a strong and yet agile evolution, full of vivid and repeated guitar solos, highly charged and sharp midtempos which smell of alcohol and aged wood (something they must have smelt many times while touring the clubs of the Great West). Loosing My Mind is the band's manifesto, 8 minutes of stream of consciousness for guitar feedback, turning off the initial morning blues calm of the track, in a crescendo of charming, stormy breaks. As well as the direct and biting Motel Light, with those melodic openings, so “Easy-Rider” influenced. A mature album, deliberately rough and recorded live in studio, a homage to some rock roots that never proved popular in Italy: there are some weak moments, some tracks lose themselves in a limbo of invading melancholy but all in all, the heart is still bleeding. The Frontier enthusiasts will have what is due to them.
