About Me

Harding is the performing name of Dave Harding, best known as Richmond Fontaine's bass player and an all-round gee whiz, easy going kind of guy. Harding took four years of piano lessons and six years of guitar lessons in his early musical development. He has used his musical experience to teach guitar and bass guitar lessons throughout his life. Harding honed his musical chops performing in such seminal early 90's Michigan bands as Uncle Fester and Baba Ghanouj, before heading out to the fir-filled world of Oregon. As one of the founding members of Richmond Fontaine, Harding has helped guide the band, through 13 crazy years, to their current status as world-renowned tea drinkers and generally decent human beings. With the release of his first solo record, "Across The Road", Harding has stepped out with a collection of his own songs. Recorded with Mike Coykendall at Blue Rooms in Portland, "Across The Road" is a tribute to a friend and former bandmate, Todd Scherer. The record features performances from Richmond Fontaine bandmates and a host of Portland' s finest musicians. Click on the Across the Road Related Info link above for some interviews and record reviews. Harding performs under his own name, as well as continuing to supply the groove for his fellow Fontainers. He has dedicated himself to the lifelong learning process involved in evolving his musical skills on guitar, bass guitar, piano and other instruments. He continues to teach guitar and bass guitar to students of all ages. "Across The Road" may be ordered through the Richmond Fontaine website. For more information on the record, or to read Harding's on the road journals, check out 'Outta My Head' on the Richmond Fontaine website. Peace.
