Selectiv are a four piece band from Exeter. They play with a mix of soulful female vibrato, rocked-out guitars, driving bass grooves, programmed beats and live drums. The band also work with samples of their own creation, which are used as part of the electronic sound-scape.Lyrically, the songs explore the eternal themes of love, life and loss; however, whilst trying to never lose sight of the positivity in even the most difficult of life's experiences.Selectiv have been featured on a number of CD compilations and their song “You’re Not the Only One” was twice featured as demo of the week on BBC Radio Devon. The band have been described as “Somewhere in between Basement Jaxx and Massive Attack” by 247 Magazine and Hysteria Magazine describes their songs as “of devotion, energy, passion, new beginnings and eventualities.”“The name Selectiv refers to the choices we all make: who we make music with; who we spend time with; who we don't spend time with; who we make love with. It's really about encouraging conscious intent: empowerment comes through recognising that we are not just victims of fate and circumstance.” said vocalist Mo.Selectiv are currently recording their debut album “Hearing”, which they plan to release in 2008.
