Band Members: In 1989 Mary Beth Fletcher needed a job to help support herself during art school. She went to student employment and saw an ad for birthday clowns in the worst neighborhoods of Los Angeles. With no training she got the job, they would hire anyone crazy enough to do it. So through much trial and error along with many gangsters a clown was born. After many years she began to get interested in starting a circus troupe. She tried out for Ringling Clown College to gain a little formal training. Ringling style was not her style in the end, but she had the opportunity to meet some of the best clowns from all over the world. She then hooked up with Jen Rosen several years later along with Jen Tony and Katy Stone in a six woman folk band called Sugar Mountain Mama Serenade. Mary Beth convinced the band to do a few wacky clown/music shows and then Jen, Katy, and Jen were interested in pushing it further. Through these amazing women a circus was born. A few years later we added a new member....it's a boy!....Todd Lininger joined the troope and has added much mischief to our ways. The troupe primarily performs for adults doing sideshows between musical acts, but has also performed in parades, and at earth day events. All five members have experience with kids too. Mary Beth and Jen R. are both art/drama/music specialists in Pomona unified school district. Katy gives music lessons to both kids and adults. Jen T., and Todd are currently working on their elementary credentials. So if you would like your event to include an environmental, educational component for kids, were the troupe for you.A special thanks to the many people who have done occational performances with our troupe and to the many musicians who have played for us during performances!
