The Fiasco Master

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm a reader and a sketcher, aiming to be a writer and a painter. Incredibly curious and passionate, with many opinions, though they are subject to change. Loyal and patient with friends. Stubborn. Almost the quintessential Piscean, but with more backbone. Looking for new things to learn, though not to master. I'm prone to being flighty, though sometimes that translates to flaky. I'm trying to make some major changes in my life and experience more control over what my future holds; it's an interesting experience.

My Interests

Games (Scrabble, Boggle, Scattergories, etc.), books, television, art, design, naps. Not necessarily in that order.

I'd like to meet:

Friends, past and future. People to challenge me and force growth. People to take walks or play games with.

Music:

It's fall so that means a combination, perhaps odd, of mid-90s to contemporary alternative/college/modern rock and late 80s to contemporary darker stuff. Recent playlists include: Xiu Xiu, Dead Can Dance, Slint, PJ Harvey, Yo La Tengo, R.E.M., Tears for Fears, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Walkmen, The Smiths, TV on the Radio, Cure, Mirah, Wilco, Jonathan Richman, The Sundays, Liz Phair.

Movies:

I like movies well enough, but I'm not the person to talk to about film. I like: In America, Secretary, The Boondock Saints, Hable con ella, Lucia y el sexo, The Libertine, The 5th Element, Como agua para chocolate, Repo Man, and then some.

Television:

Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Burn Notice, Californication, HEROES!, Dexter, What Not to Wear, Workout, Project Runway, etc. I'm only religious about a few. Other than that, I can watch HGTV or D.I.Y. for hours. It's disgusting, but I'll be damned if I don't like looking at pretty things.

Books:

Edna St. Vincent Millay and Pablo Neruda lately. Also, assorted children's picture books. Pancakes for Dinner is a recent favorite. As is When Panda Came to Our House.

Heroes:

Monday nights at 8! Shameful, I know. But honestly, isn't Mother Teresa a little trite by now?

I have some and they are so awesome. But instead of playing with them, I have to go to work. I don't think they'll have trouble entertaining themselves.

Protest v. Birthday Party

No, it's not a decision I have to make. It's the conversation of a four-year-old and her two-year-old sister while playing farm animals. The four-year-old keeps announcing that there's another protest...

Uhhhhhhh... I'm getting married in four months.

I'm going to have a minor panic attack today. Maybe. Hopefully not. But seriously, this is scary.

We're out of Dr. Pepper, so I'm drinking Andre.

If I had some Cristal, it might even feel decadent. I guess it IS decadent to start on the cheap champagne while I'm working on plans for my summer camp job, but I really wanted a beverage with bubble...
