best description of my life: science vs romance....oh yeah, and music to distract me. lots and lots of music.
if you fall into one of three categories, sure, i'll meetcha: interesting people; men who will encourage my alcohol habit; real assholes. oh wait. i think i've met enough people who fall into that third category recently.
built to spill, am radio, weezer, girls are short, the unicorns, sloan, bob dylan, death cab for cutie/the postal service, white stripes, thunderbirds are now!, rilo kiley, wilco, johnny cash, ella fitzgerald, of montreal, hot iqs, the arcade fire, the datsuns, the shins, lots more "the" bands...meh, i'm too damned lazy to actually compile an even partial list of music i like.
the princess bride
napoleon dynamite

yep, that about says it all.
my t.v. does not work. instead i entertain myself by singing whatever itunes chooses for me while reading news websites. --okay, the previous statements used to be true. then i had to go and get a t.v. AND digital cable. dammit. now i'm addicted to cooking shows, the history channel, and american experience (hey, pbs is a cable channel...sort of...).
i have a really bad book habit. it seriously rivals my cd and shoe habit. in my rather lame attempts to remember why i love certain books as much as i do, i've recently re-read "the kitchen god's wife" by amy tan and "the stranger" by albert camus (matthew ward's translation, not stuart gilbert's). oh yes, and i just finished "the magician" by w. somerset maugham.
i have been feeling as though my knowledge of useless trivia has diminished in recent years, so i bought myself "mental_floss presents: condensed knowledge." i'm reading it in slow bits so that i can retain all of that new and exciting "useless" trivia.
i've just purchased "the lovely bones" by alice sebold. love that book, and i have no idea what happened to my last copy. in addition to that, i've just treated my jane austen obsession with tucker's biography, "jane austen the woman." i'm excited to get started on that one!
anyone have suggestions as to something else i have to read? i'm sick. i know it. and, the answer is yes. i've read every book in my home at least once.
