When I was about 10, in junior school, the teachers set us a competition over who could make the best boomerang. We would be judged on the look of the boomerang and ofcourse how good it was at coming back. We were set about a month to make a boomerang, and some kids really went to town, get their dads to make them out of wood, painted them, tested prototypes, slaved over them for the whole month.
The day before it was due in I got a plastic boomerang that I already owned, cut up a cereal box and glued it around the boomerang to make it look like it was made out of lots of layers of cardboard. Then I spray painted it black, it took about 25 minutes to finish.
I won the competition. I can't remember what I won, but this was a defining moment in my life
