About Me

I'm a playful spirit who dabbles in music, art, whimsy, and athletics. I'm spiritually connected and involved and am the father of a delightfully charming 7 year old boy. I love to dance, go to live music events, exercise, climb rock faces, take photographs, and play & run with my dog. I sometimes shave my head and sometimes grow my hair out like a Chia pet. : ) I enjoy listening to NPR (a LOT), my old vinyl albums and digital music - but prefer LIVE music. I'm compassionate, intellectually curious, athletic, socially concerned, and am very comfortable in my body. I love dancing the night away at live music venues AND I enjoy staying home and reading or watching movies. I'm an ENFP personality type (Myers-Briggs) and, while I'm not sure about astrology, I seem to fit the description of a Leo. I'm equally at ease in a suit, in nice pants & shirt, jeans & t-shirt, in work-out gear, or in various silly clothing items that I own (disco, fool, jester, nerd, etc.). I'm both politically and theologically liberal-progressive (social justice focus). Although I'm Christian, my beliefs and perspectives aren't especially traditional or stereotypical. I lean Quakerish but am a United Methodist - seems to work just fine. I have bursts of intensity, but I'm generally a low-key, laid back, relaxed kind of guy - except when I'm trying to find my keys! I'm also a romantic who enjoys cherishing and celebrating a special loved one. Basically, I'm a nice guy with a healthy frisky streak. ; )Save The World - One Click At A Time!

My Interests

MUSIC of most every type - but especially LIVE; dancing; playing my trumpet; progressive/liberal spirituality and politics; the pursuit of social justice; yoga; rock climbing; running; road-biking; motorcycling; mime; poetry; travel; photography; cool dogs; children; blogging; & collecting surreal experiences and curious synchronicities.

I'd like to meet:

I'm especially seeking folks to go rock-climbing, hiking, running, snow-shoeing, camping, backpacking, cooking, movie going, live music enjoying, dancing, and making music with! Some common denominators I like in people: People who don't take life too seriously and who can laugh at themselves; people who like to make, dance to, or appreciate good music; people who take care of their bodies; people who have an intentional and growing spirituality; people who can hold their own in conversations; and those who DO give a damn about the world around them and who seek to make a positive difference!.. width="425" height="350" ....

Music:

width="425" height="350" ....I'm a product of the Twin Cities music scene in the '80s and early '90s so I'm naturally into The Jayhawks, The Replacements, Soul Asylum, Husker Du, the Suburbs,Prince, and Trip Shakespeare. My tastes are eclectic, ranging from Funk, Alternative, Punk, Classic Rock, Swing, Jazz, Blues, Soul, Motown, Folk, Classical, Bluegrass, & more! Some favs include: Iron and Wine; The Jam; Style Council; Billy Bragg; They Might Be Giants, Rush, Boston, Queen, The Clash, U2, Jimmy Hendrix, Imogen Heap, Etta James, Billie Holiday; Louis Armstrong, Cole Porter, Miles Davis, the Doors, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Elvis Costello, Midnight Oil, Sly and the Family Stone, Santana, Cake, Coldplay, Modest Mouse, Toad the Wet Sprocket, the Theivery Corporation, Portishead, the Pixies - and then there's all the local artists who I enjoy supporting as they grow and bloom.

Movies:

Harold and Maude is the only film I like to watch and I like to watch it twice a day - except for Thursdays when I eat yams.

Television:

Own one but rarely watch it. Mythbusters and Daily Show are favs.

Books:

Fav. authors: Tom Robbins; ee cummings; Palblo Neurda; Mark Twain; Leo Tolstoy; Howard Thurman; Robert Pirsig; Douglas Adams, MLK Jr., Umberto Eco, Jim Wallis, Anne Lamott, Marcus Borg, & Walter Wink. Fav Books: The Powers that Be; Unveiling the Powers; Jitterbug Perfume; Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintanence; and certain books of the Bible (partial to Isaiah, Jeremiah, Amos, Micah, Luke, 1 Corinthians, & James, though Genesis is always good for a laugh - seriously - there's a lot of funny dysfunctional family stuff in there! : ) The Tao of Pooh and The Te of Piglet are fun. Sojourners Magazine rocks! I Have A Dream

Heroes:

Knight errants; Yeshua of Nazareth, John Wesley, Mahatma Gandhi, Franz Jaegerstaetter, Deitrich Bonhoeffer, MLK Jr., Oscar Romero, Dorothy Day, Helen Keller, Sen. Hubert Humphrey, Jim Wallis, the person who played his cello in the middle of the street during a sniper attack in Bosnia, Sen. Paul Wellstone, Marcel Marceau, Jacques Cousteau, and most recently, Lt. Ehren Watada. And, then include the unknown heroes - single parents who don't have an ex available to co-parent with; corporate and governmental whistle-blowers who risk their careers to warn of egregious wrong-doing; and all persons who could strike out with violence but who choose another path in the heat of the moment... Which Tarot Card Are You?
You are the Fool card. The Fool fearlessly begins the journey into the unknown. To do this, he does not regard the world he knows as firm and fixed. He has a seemingly reckless disregard for obstacles. In the Ryder-Waite deck, he is seen stepping off a cliff with his gaze on the sky, and a rainbow is there to catch him. In order to explore and expand, one must disregard convention and conformity. Those in the throes of convention look at the unconventional, non-conformist personality and think What a fool. They lack the point of view to understand The Fool's actions. But The Fool has roots in tradition as one who is closest to the spirit world. In many tribal cultures, those born with strange and unusual character traits were held in awe. Shamans were people who could see visions and go on journeys that we now label hallucinations and schizophrenia. Those with physical differences had experience and knowledge that the average person could not understand. The Fool is God. The number of the card is zero, which when drawn is a perfect circle. This circle represents both emptiness and infinity. The Fool is not shackled by mountains and valleys or by his physical body. He does not accept the appearance of cliff and air as being distinct or real. Image from: Mary DeLave http://www.marydelave.com/
