Jose-Maria has been playing guitar for 16 years, devoting about half of that time to the exploration of alternate time signatures. This broad experience has led to his being much more a composer than instrumentalist. Combining the finger-picking techniques of Spanish and Classical guitar with a contemporary feel, Jose-Maria has created a style truly his own. Apart from his own music, he is a founder of a collaborative record label, Red Penguin Records, a collaborative performing activist group, Art as Action, and is a director/producer/developer for Fractal Tribe, a collection of artists and artists' resources, ranging from circus performance and event managment to engineering and welding. He has performed at venues such as Trilogy Lounge, Boulder Theater, The Fox, and The Dairy Center for the Arts and has worked on events ranging from The Village at Copper Mountain to the Chantilly Ballroom at the Anatole in Dallas.
