About Me

Miss Sophie is back with a brand new act and a spankin' band. Donning her gold lame' guitar she steps into spotlight and up to the mic, to enthral new legions of fans with her deliciously husky voice and witty lyrics. Her hair flowing, Miz Sophie comands the crowd by the strenght of her fierce presence, incisive guitar work and undeniable ear for truth in singing !The drivin' force behind her music wich draws on such diverse influences as blues, rockabilly, gospel, rock'n'roll, boogie, rhythm & blues, jazz, chanson, swing, ragtime, Miss Sophie has distilled an intoxicating elixor that purrs, barksn roars, bubbles and demands to be consumed !The product of a gipsy-like childhood, the young Sophie was constantly absorbing the musical styles that have led her into her current sounds. She picked up guitar as a kid and has used it to interprete her life and music every since. With stage, film, commercial and singin' credits too numerous to mention, Sophie kay is an all around performer, entertaining on stage, serious in her business dealings, funny in life, she is a woman who gets things done.******************************************************* ********* ************************************************************ **** "The Blues has come a long way since working its way out of the MS Delta,in the 20th Century. The Art Form has spread its influence around the globe, and is performed in many languages, but the Blues, can translate with deep feelings, regardless of what country, whose artists are expressing the Blues. One great city of the World. Paris,France, has always had a strong passion for African American Culture, and currently a hot sensation is a lady of the Blues,Sophie Kay,who presents her voluptuous natural style"and charisma, probably not experienced live since the days of Memphis Minnie. This women can work the vintage songs with a forceful delivery, and can write her own original tunes, with wonderful guitar licks, definitely keeping the Blues alive" Viva LaFrance,(long live Sophie Kay) Bill Nolan,WPKN/WPKM,Bridgeport,Connecticut.USA ************************************************************ **** Sophie Kay at the Festival "Women in Blues" Wilmington, North Carolina (USA) november 3rd 2007 - "Sophie Kay from France was next to take the stage and it was evident why she has been called the Edith Pilaf of Blues. This remarkable woman sang blues in French to a delighted audience. Her passion and voice are so perfect for blues. Sophie even called one of the Pixies up to jam and for several of her songs many of the artist and others could be seen dancing wildly at the side of the stage. What an honor to have her come all the way from France. This was our 1st International artists!"
