The recent years have certainly seen Uruguayan DJ Carlos Regueira (AKA SOUTHMEN) make his mark on the Global Scene. Started early 1997 mixing at privates parties while still in school he was invited to play at well known club ''SPACE'' in Punta Del Este, Uruguay, since then he has been involved in activities and events related to electronic music, even promoting some of the most important events over. Originally from La Coruña(Spain) but bassed in Montevideo(Uruguay) since a child, SOUTHMEN is one of the extremely talented batch of DJ's/Producers hailing from the South America scene at the moment. It was his completes dedication to House music what it has taken Carlos to where is nowadays, with a tight schedule that takes him around the globe.
the DJ:
Carlos had the opportunity to play at lot of clubs and events worldwide, alongside the most important DJs. Their record entailment with the most outstanding labels and Producers and their unique style when he playes have turned him into a special DJ within House and Progressive House music.
He used to have residency at Space in Punta del Este and also runs the most important after hours in Punta at Cafe Del Mar, but not happy with staying in his home country Uruguay, he has travelled far and wide to play: Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Mexico, Colombia, USA, Spain, Portugal and ofcourse UK where he has lived. He has residency at legendary DRY BAR in Manchester and played as guest DJs at venues such as THE MUSIC BOX and LIVING ROOM and also at THE ARCHES in Glasgow. After this succes he was one of the resident DJs at American well known club TWILO on their South American tour and also has co-produce some important gigs in Punta for big names: TIESTO, SATOSHI TOMIIE, SASHA, PAUL OAKENFOLD, ANTHONY PAPPA, GLOBAL UNDERGROUND, BEHROUZ.
the Producer:
In 2002 He had some productions signed to Premier Sounds (by PRIME Distribution) alongside Uruguayan producer Rolando Cieri, this track called 'IMAN' was remixed by one of the upcoming British talent's SHAFUNKERS courtesy of John Digweed's BEDROCK. 'FUNKY F' was the other one, signed to DISTRAEKT Recordings with remixes by PAUL WOOLFORD and PILLIAVIN & ZIMBARDO both records had great reactions within the crowd and DJs.
In 2003 he had signed one track to AZULI Records(UK mayor label) wich has been included in SPACE IBIZA compilation mixed by the great DJ SMOKIN JO' and as if Carlos can't put a foot wrong he has joined the ranks of the elite in MUZIK Magazine's (UK) chart roster alongside DJs such as: Steve Lawler, Satoshi Tomiie, Carl Cox, Ralph Lawson, Tom Stephan and Hernan Cattaneo to name a few. Wich brings back to the present it was in 2005/2006 when SOUTHMEN has obtains his definitive recognition when he had signed original productions with the main US label YOSHITOSHI Recordings owned by legendary duo DEEP DISH. Co-produced by London 909 and JZK this track called SOUTHDRUMMERS - ''Cruz Del Sur'' was the main attraction during past year's WMC in Miami and had received support from DANNY TENAGLIA, DEEP DISH, SATOSHI TOMIIE, STEVE LAWLER, BEHROUZ, DJ VIBE, LEXICON AV and many others big names!
Nowadays Southmen still working on productions and edits for Yoshitoshi, YO! and Shinichi and also for other main labels. At this moment one stands out some of their work, having hughe succes on clubs around the world.
the Experience:
Southmen latest appearances include clubs such as: WARUNG(top 5 worldwide club by mixmag and djmag), LIQÜE, SPIN, COVA DEN XOROI, FRIENDS, CATWALK, PACHA, BORA BORA, SIRENA, LOTUS to name a few. Just to round things off during these years Carlos has been performed side by side with the most representatives DJs worldwide: Anthony Pappa, Behrouz, Chus & Ceballos, Dean Coleman, Demi, Darren Emerson, DFormation, François K, George Morel, Greg Vickers, Hernan Cattaneo, Hardsoul, JZK, Kosmas Epsilon, Lee Cabrera, Lexicon Avenue, Low End Speciallists, Matthias Heilbron, Martin Solveig, Nick Warren, Neil Quigley, Oliver, Paul Harris, Palash, Ricky Ryan, Sharam, Silicone Soul, The Remote(Global Underground)
