The Low End Specialists are NYC based duo
Mac Clark and Ali Geramian.
They have rapidly been rising to the top of the charts and decks in
clubland. Purveyors of the latest underground sound, Mac and Ali
constantly remain on the cutting edge of underground house music both
in the studio and on the decks while remaining true to their tribal
roots. Danny Tenaglia, Deep Dish, John Digweed, Sander Kleinenberg, DJ
Vibe, Hernan Cattaneo and Danny Howells are among the industry
heavy-weights who have been supporting them since their arrival on the
scene.
They have produced & remixed records for Virgin, EMI, Astralworks,
Sanctuary, Yoshitoshi, Little Mountain and Bedrock Records to name but
a few. They have remixed artists from every spectrum of music
including but not limited to Janet Jackson, William Orbit, Conjure
One, Steve Lawler and Danny Tenaglia. Their projects consistently hit
the top 10 on the billboard charts and in 2004 and 2005 they enjoyed
number 1 hits. The two are currently busy remixing and producing
original material in the studio while maintaining a busy gig schedule
within the U.S and overseas. Constantly pushing the sound of the
dancefloor from all angles you'll need to experience them first-hand
to see what all the buzz is about. The move from prodigies to peers of
their heroes has been lightning fast, and the buzz surrounding them
grows ever louder.
It was a lunch in 1999 with mutual friends that originally brought New York City's Mac Clark & Ali Geramian together. It was then that they discovered that they shared the same passion for a certain style of house music; not long after that introduction the seed for The Low End Specialists began to grow. From their humble beginnings as local New York City DJs and producers, Mac and Ali were schooled in the NYC club scene where they were influenced by legendary DJs Danny Tenaglia and Junior Vasquez.
Ali and Mac burst onto the scene in 2001 with their widely acclaimed remix of the seminal tribal house classic, So Get Up by Underground Sound of Lisbon. This remix which was released on Kaos Records found its way into the boxes of the industrys best DJs, while being featured on DJ Vibes Global Grooves compilation and John Digweeds Kiss 100 show. From there, The Low End Specialists signed their first single to Dirty Vegas Hydrogen Records which appeared on Sasha & Digweeds WMC Essential Mix and the charts of numerous trendsetting DJs like Pete Tong & Deep Dish. This monstrous effort from them was a hit record at WMC 2002 and fully marked their arrival on the global dance scene.
In the summer of 2002, Mac and Ali accepted their first major NYC residency at the popular Centro-Fly nightclub, home to legendary DJs like Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, and The Chemical Brothers. This residency was the opportunity any DJ would relish: the chance to perform at one of North Americas most recognized nightclubs and to establish their own night in arguably the worlds most competitive market. It was through this weekly residency where Mac and Ali developed their trademark LES sound - a journey which touched upon sexy bassline grooves, tough tribal drums, lush melodies and pumping techno. What resulted was a legendary party that featured Ali & Macs patented brand of house music to enthusiastic crowds every Thursday, coupled with guest appearances by the worlds finest DJs such as John Digweed, Carl Cox, Seb Fontaine, DJ Vibe, Satoshi Tomiie and countless others. This residency garnered them worldwide acclaim and enormous support from industry heavyweights and clubbers, establishing The Low End Specialists as one of the hottest names in the global house scene. Due in large part to their night's success, Centro-Fly was nominated for club of the year awards by both Dance Star & BPM Magazine in 2003.
Now with an extensive discography and successful residency under their belts, Mac and Ali took their show on the road, making stops in a myriad of discotheques around the world performing in over 30 countries. From Los Angeles to Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur and Argentina; from Switzerland to Montreal, London and Ibiza; from Las Vegas to Portugal, Russia and Amsterdam they have delivered their signature sound to every corner of the globe. However their proudest moments may have been in the early stages of their career as they accepted regular requests from Danny Tenaglia to play with him or fill in while he was on the road at his celebrated Be Yourself party.p
Throughout their success in the DJ booth and in the studio, The Low End Specialists have shown no signs of letting up. After enjoying the commercial successes of their Janet Jackson and Juliet remixes reaching number 1 positions on Billboard's Hot Dance/Club chart, they continued their assault on the charts with their remixes of Juliet’s “Ride The Pain†and Conjure One’s “Extraordinary Way†both would reach number 4 positions on Billboard. The strength of their remix of Juliet’s single “Avalon†was recognized by Virgin and submitted to the Grammy’s for consideration for the nomination of best remix of a non classical work. Shortly after that they were asked by Puff Daddy’s Bad Boy Label to produce several tracks for his electronic album project, Virgin also requested their production services once again to remix The Gorillaz hit single “Dareâ€. Whilst being heavily submerged in large remix projects they continued to work on original projects for the first time in many years and their efforts paid off. John Digweed, Hernan Catteneo and many other notable DJ’s supported their single “Power Station†on Toolroom records which soon after found its way onto Bedrock & Sony BMG compilations. In 2006 they delivered another dance floor smash entitled “It Comes From Inside†on Sander Kleinenbergs Little Mountain Records. The single received huge support at the 2006 Winter Music Conference and was later featured on Dubfire’s 2007 Global Underground Taipei, as well as Ministry of Sound and Perfecto compilations from Mark Knight and Sandra Collins. The end of 2007 saw the launching of their Fonetico RC label imprint and a request for Natalie Imbruglia’s camp to produce material for her new album. Throughout their busy studio schedule; they have continued to maintain a rigorous tour diary, one that sees them continuing the grind throughout various North and South American cities & Europe. Now at the beginning of 2008, The Low End Specialists will continue their ascent towards the top of house music’s elite, producing quality music in the studio while entertaining clubbers and fans throughout the globe.
