About Me

Techno / Electro DJ & Producer
Nigel has been DJing in the UK since 1992 when he got his first Techno mix played by Colin Faver on Kiss FM.
Though he has been into the music as far back as 1981, when he stumbled across the Kraftwerk - Computer World album. And when the breakdance scene hit the UK it was Streetsounds first Crucial Electro album that opened his eyes to the sound of the future! "I'm still playing a remix of Hashim's Al-Naafiysh and a track by the Advent that samples heavily from Kraftwerks It's More Fun to Compute".
The Electro albums changed direction towards Hip-Hop in the mid 80s & it wasn't until 1988 and the acid house explosion that Nigels love for dance music would hit him again. He purchased his first early Akai s700 Sampler and an old Korg Mono/Poly keyboard, and set about sequencing them up with an Atari computer.
His dabblings in production kept him going untill 1991 when the Rave scene hit the UK. After outings to Camber Sands Weekenders & regular trips to Sterns he got the DJing bug. He sold the Korg keyboard on to Luke Slater who was running Jelly Jam records at the time. "Luke was shocked that I wanted to buy decks in exchange for the keyboard!".
As the rave scene died out, he focused his record buying on hard Techno & D-Jax Techno. With the odd visit to Lost in the mid 90s, to keep an eye on the scene.
It wasn't until 2001 and a move to Brighton that Nigel's interest reached fever pitch. "I tried to get myself Techno sets in Brighton, but after visiting Europe and chatting to Dave Clarke about his experiences of Brighton, I knew I had to set my sights further afield!". Nigel turned to the internet to share his mixes and concentrated on building up a fast PC and as much analogue kit as he could lay his hands on, in a step to improve his production.
Over the years he has developed his own style of mixing, using scratching, FX & loop sampling over some of the toughest Techno / Electro cuts. He has put out a series of 10 mix CDs, 6 other mixes & 2 videos over the Soulseek network and has had over 2000 mix downloads & great feedback from around the world.
In the South East he has played at venues including the Brighton Centre, Concorde 2, Hastings Pier, Pressure Point & the Volks Tavern. But he's goal is to be playing in venues across the UK & Europe in the near future.
To open 2007 he has set up n-coder.co.uk & put together 2 blistering new Techno mixes, the first concentrating on the latest releases & the second revisiting a few past masterpieces.
Nigel is planning to put together his first Electro mix for the site in the very near future.
He has also done a full on Techno assault mix for the guys at Leeds JOY night & is looking forward to future dates & involvement with the JOY team.
