Believe it or not, as remarkable as her brilliant and creative foray into singing/songwriting with her strong, sultry, and sexy vocals, the beautiful and simply stunning part Danish, part exotic East Indian SHALINI (aka SHAL'LIGHT) is an award-winning scholar, medical doctor, and a prominent and skilled Eye Surgeon specializing in Laser Refractive Surgery (LASIK) and Plastic Surgery!!!! Active in research, she has published many scientific papers throughout the world, presented her findings nationally and internationally, and has won numerous awards for her work.
Featured in the media after publishing her research work on the "Shaken Baby Syndrome" as well as having discovered a variation in the gene for childhood Tay Sach's Disease, Shalini has always had an immense passion for children and has worked with many charitable organizations working towards the prevention of child abuse. She hopes to continue her work helping children in various capacities including direct care at Children's Hospitals, Make-a-Wish Foundation and "Save The Children" helping sick, poor and orphaned children worldwide.
She is also a frequent participant in the music, fashion and film world, with experience as a model, actress, TV show host, and musician/vocalist, and has also broadened her creative visions as a designer of her own Haute Couture Fashion line, having walked the "Red Carpet" at the 46th Annual Grammy Awards show and France's Cannes Film Festival's "DEVDAS" World Movie Premiere in her own unique designs. She has also been interviewed there as well as at numerous other Red Carpet events, including Imaginasian TV's prestigious opening night celebrations and the Miss South Asia Pageant televised worldwide this year. As a keyboardist and singer/songwriter, her recognized work has included being the official Music Director and Supervisor for the soundtrack to the Hollywood film "Unspeakable" starring Dennis Hopper. She has also composed and produced music and performed vocals on songs, including the sensuous "Mystify" and the transcendental "Messy Shirts" Warehouse Scene score for the film as well, and has had various roles in Hollywood and international films.
Her upcoming projects include her own debut Pop Album to be soon released as co-producer with Grammy Award-winning executive producer ERROL "POPPI" MCCALLA JR. helming the project (who recently won 7 Grammy’s for producing Beyonce’s album "Dangerously in Love" with hit singles ‘Crazy in Love', ‘Baby Boy', and ‘Naughty Girl'. Errol has also worked with Janet Jackson, Missy Elliot, P Diddy, Destiny’s Child as well as having written 1 hits on the "Charlie’s Angel" soundtrack.)
In addition to working in the mainstream pop industry, Shalini has closely collaborated with A-List Bollywood Heavyweight No. 1 hit-makers and composers, Salim and Sulaiman Merchant (aka SALIM-SULAIMAN of "Kaal", "Dhoom", Yash Chopra's "Neal 'n Nikki" , Mani Ratnam's "Bhoot"and Rakesh Roshan's blockbuster "Krrish" fame) who have currently produced her mega Bollywood smashes "Mehbooba Mehbooba" (lyrics by legendary Shabbir Ahmad) and "One Day (Till I'm Gone)" (lyrics by none other than Shalini).
With such a powerful team (the ultimate fusion of Mainstream Pop and Bollywood sensibilities), Shalini’s will be a very unique, sizzling and sensual album.
STAY TUNED as Shalini will be filming her 2 upcoming music videos, "Dangerous" and her percussive dance hit "Mehbooba Mehbooba" which will infuse beautifully choreographed, steamy Bollywood-style dance sequences with luscious, pounding pop/dance/R&B grooves. These will be produced and choreographed by Karan Johar's Bollwood team in Mumbai who created the same gorgeous and stunning visuals for the blockbuster "Tauba Tauba" in the movie "Kaal".
