THE GENERAL MANAGERS
The year 2007, proved to be a huge year for the 2007ABC Music awards finalists "The General Managers".
In April 2007, the band took out third place in the prestigious Youth Rock 2007 at Sutherland Entertainment Centre in Sydney, distinguishing themselves from a field of 130 entries from around the State and walking away with more than $2000 in prizes.
The competition, which was judged by 30 professional musicians and producers, was proclaimed the best in the event’s 20-year history. This is the event that launched the careers of Silver chair and Alex Lloyd!
On the basis of this standout performance at Youth Rock, The General Managers were one of two bands chosen to feature at The Sydney Royal Easter Show. During this gig they caught the attention of Show FM and secured an interview with the station and a feature slot on 96.3FM’s “Lockup Garage†segment.
Their success also attracted coverage from The Newcastle Herald, The Post, The Lake Macquarie News and The Star newspapers, and the Dubbo Times
The band went on to be finalists in this year’s ABC 2007 Music awards, and also took out the Matara festival "Let there be Rock “in their local town in OCT 2007.
The General Managers were formed at Whitebridge High School. The members, Adam Kennedy, Jarrod Gibson and Tristan Jan have achieved great things in their short time on stage.
The band’s burgeoning reputation isn’t all about competitions and interviews, however. These lads like to produce high-energy rock and aim to get the audience out of their seats. Lead singer/guitarist "Kenno" Adam Kennedy is a real crowd-pleaser
With eye-opening musical ability and stage antics; “Funk-A-Lotâ€, Jarrod Gibson, shines on bass and backup vocals, while "risty" Tristan Jan rocks out on drums.
